FORMER NRL and NSW Blues State of Origin star Luke O’Donnell is facing charges of cocaine supply in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
The 37-year-old who played for the Roosters, Cowboys and Wests Tigers was pulled over in his car by patrolling police in Bondi Junction last month.
The police searched his Holden station wagon on Grafton Street and allegedly found five grams of cocaine — worth up to $1750 — in seven resealable bags, along with nine Valium tablets and $800 cash that police suspect of being the proceeds of crime.
He was charged with supplying a prohibited drug.
As part of his bail conditions, O’Donnell must report to Waverley Police Station every day and is under a 6.30pm to 5am curfew at his Clovelly home.
The troubled ex-footballer was already in strife with the law, relating to an alleged domestic violence incident.
Police allege they were called to the 37-year-old’s Clovelly unit early on the morning of June 3 to speak to him and that O’Donnell became aggressive.
“A struggle ensued before police tasered the man,” police said in a statement.
Police officers took out an apprehended violence order stopping O’Donnell from approaching his father, Ross Ray O’Donnell.
The former Kangaroos forward has struggled since retiring from rugby league in 2013. He had a failed business venture, a chicken shop at Randwick the following year.
O’Donnell now works as a personal trainer in the eastern suburbs.
