Bulldog’s Bite: Rabbitohs tryscoring freak Alex Johnston top target of PNG NRL team

After the success of the Dolphins, the NRL is looking to add an 18th team and one of the NRL’s top ever tryscorers is at the top of the shopping list.

South Sydney flyer Alex Johnston will become the PNG Kumuls’ number one target if granted admission into the NRL.

In the past 12 months, Johnston has become one of the most well-known and popular figures in footy-mad PNG.

The South Sydney try scoring machine simply cannot walk down the street without being mobbed by adoring fans.

And to prove his celebrity status, a leading PNG biscuit manufacturer – the Lae Biscuit Company – has now formed an official partnership with Johnston.

“I love representing PNG, my country of heritage, whenever I pull on the jersey and whenever I score a try,” Johnston said. “But I’m now at the point of my career where I want to do more for my people than just play footy.

“It’s a joy to not only represent them but to also mix with them and assist them in many ways. The ambassador role with the Lae Biscuit Company will give me the opportunity to visit more.”
