Brisbane Broncos, Alex Glenn injury: captain looking at six weeks on sidelines
Broncos coach Anthony Seibold believes under fire five-eighth Anthony Milford is the man kick-start Brisbane’s season following their victory over the Bulldogs.

Broncos coach Anthony Seibold lamented captain Alex Glenn’s cruel luck, admitting his latest injury drama had soured Brisbane’s breakthrough defeat of the Bulldogs at Suncorp Stadium.
Seibold must find another starting back-rower on his left edge for Friday night’s clash against Wests Tigers after Glenn was carried off in the 54th minute with a knee injury in the 26-8 victory.
Bulldogs centre Reimis Smith was placed on report for his cannonball cheap-shot and he is almost certain to be suspended for a tackle that will see Glenn miss at least a month of football.
The Broncos skipper will have scans on Sunday and while Brisbane medicos ruled out a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, Seibold confirmed Glenn will be sidelined for an extended period.

“He is not real good,” Seibold said.
“It’s his MCL (medial cruciate ligament), he will be in brace but he won’t need an operation, thankfully we’re not concerned about his ACL.
“It does sour our win in a lot of ways. ‘Lexi’ is our captain, he was strong defensively so we will miss him. The tackle got put on report, it was an awkward tackle, but Lexi felt the pop, he knew straight away he was in trouble.”
Before the match, Glenn revealed the players had taken more ownership of the club’s training week. Seibold said the players’ influence was overstated but lauded the leadership group for their willingness to step up.
“Every team I have been a part of I have asked the leadership team to take ownership of some things,” he said.
“On Friday we had a team breakky and the players had a choice on what they wanted to do, but on our two big work days things didn’t change.
“I have been at the guys to take some ownership and it was pleasing they did that.”
While the win was scrappy, it eases the pressure valve at Red Hill. Seibold praised the clinical kicking of five-eighth Anthony Milford and the damaging second-phase created by Tevita Pangai Jr.

“The coaching staff have been encouraging ‘Milf’,” he said. “He is a fantastic kicker of the footy, the more he kicks, the more effective we seem to be.
“I enjoy coaching Tevita, he is an enigma at times but I love coaching him, I set him the challenge of going through the middle which was pleasing.
“I remembered the team song. The win is a step in the right direction.”
