Brian Lockwood death: Legendary Balmain and Canterbury forward dies aged 78
An English import who became famous for his creativity and ball-playing ability for a forward, Brian Lockwood, who played for Canterbury and Balmain in the 70s, has died.

Legendary Balmain and Canterbury forward Brian Lockwood has died.
English-born Lockwood, 78, had a stint with the Bulldogs in 1974 before playing the following three years with the Tigers.
Lockwood, a second-rower and prop, became famous for his creativity and ball-playing ability.
He played 46 games for Balmain and 16 for Canterbury while representing England and Great Britain in 19 Tests.
Lockwood died on Thursday morning in a Wakefield hospital from pneumonia and heart issues.
He also had a hand infection.
Lockwood played in five NSWRL finals matches, three for Canterbury, including the 1974 grand final against Easts, and a further two with Balmain.
He played for Oldham, Castleford, Wakefield Trinity, Hull Kingston Rovers and Widnes in England.
