The Roosters’ hopes of winning this year’s NRLW title have taken a massive hit with one of their best players ruled out with a serious knee injury.

The Roosters have been dealt an almighty blow with star fullback Corban Baxter to miss the entire NRLW season after scans confirmed she ruptured her ACL and suffered a lateral meniscus tear during last week’s pre-season trial against the Sharks.
Baxter scored seven tries for the Roosters last season and started all three games for NSW at five-eighth in the recent State of Origin series, with the Tricolours set to miss her incredible leadership and attacking brilliance from the back.
There’s more bad news for the club with Brydie Parker set to miss 6-8 weeks after scans confirmed she’d suffered a forearm fracture that will keep her out for at least the first half of the NRLW season.
It’s a further blow for the Roosters who will be without Shawden Burton for the entire campaign after she tore her hamstring in the pre-season.

“We are all really feeling for Corban. She is our vice-captain and such a valuable asset to our playing group, so to have her miss the entire 2024 season is a really big loss,” Roosters NRLW coach John Strange said.
“It’s also disappointing news for ‘Shawdy’ (Burton). She has worked so hard to recover from the ACL injury that sidelined her midway through last year, so this new injury is really unlucky.
“Pleasingly for Brydie, we expect to see her back in the next six to eight weeks or so.
“We will continue to do everything possible to ensure Corban, Shawden and Brydie are fully supported during their respective recoveries and can return to playing as soon as possible.”
