DAY 1 REVIEW
Victoria has made a bulldozing start to its Marie Little Shield title defence while perennial heavyweights New South Wales flexed their muscle on a massive opening day of the national tournament in Brisbane.
Victoria blazed out of the blocks against a willing Tasmanian side, winning 49-8 before backing that result up in the afternoon with an impressive 33-4 triumph over Queensland.
Queensland had earlier taken the fight to rivals Western Australia, but ultimately fell 31-10 in their tournament opener.
Western Australia made it two-from-two to start the tournament, backing up that effort with a 38-2 win over Tasmania to set up an exciting final round clash with fellow undefeated rivals Victoria.
South Australia also finished the opening day of the tournament undefeated, with the red army picking up a 40-3 win over the NT before taking down the ACT 53-2.
They will take on a rampant New South Wales side who scored a combined 96 goals in their opening two games of the tournament, with big wins over both the NT and ACT as well.
The tournament continues with third round matches on Saturday morning, before a pool crossover round and into the semi-finals on Saturday afternoon.
