Australia’s Jack Miller has produced the ride of his life to win the Japanese Grand Prix in arguably the best performance of his MotoGP career.
Six-time MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez had taken advantage of the wet conditions on to take pole position on his Honda for the first time in three years but he was quickly swallowed up at the start and finished fourth.

Brad Binder, also on the front row, flew past the Spaniard to grab the lead on the first corner before Jorge Martin took over at the front.
Miller started the race seventh on the grid but he stormed through the field and took the lead after executing a superb late-braking overtake on Martin on the third lap.
Miller then set a succession of fastest laps as he opened an unassailable gap at the front and was never challenged as he cruised to a dominant victory.
Miller celebrated by crossing the finish line with just one wheel on the track and absolutely smoked his tyre.
The wild scenes continued on the podium as Miller downed a shoey before tossing his boot into the crowd.
The 27-year-old has endured a tough season with Ducati and was clearly thrilled to record his first victory since last year.
Milled joked: “I can ride a motorcycle sometimes!”
“What an amazing day. It’s awesome … Over the moon, can’t thank everybody enough.”

It was Miller’s first win since back-to-back victories in Spain and France in 2021 and his first triumph in the Netherlands.
Motorsport pundits were thrilled to see Miller finally put together a complete performance.
Waited till Jack Miller won the race before tweeting about him, didn't want to jinx him because we all know how he has messed up before despite having frightening pace. He dominated from start to finish, was all alone at the chequered flag and finished in style. #JapaneseGPpic.twitter.com/xZWgocwqKO

MotoGP journalist Simon Patterson said: “An absolute demolition of the field from Jack Miller, very impressive stuff from Brad Binder, Marc Marquez back(?). What a race.”
The Herald Sun’s Ian Royall said: “Great win - and a shoey - by Jack Miller in Japan. Looking good for Phillip Island next month!”
Podium finishes have between few and far between this year for Miller, who will move from Ducati to Red Bull KTM next season.
He is currently fifth in the overall MotoGP standings with four races left on the calendar.
Miller will compete in his home Grand Prix at Phillip Island in mid-October.
