Daniel Ricciardo may not have an F1 seat any more but the Aussie has once again shown he’s still one of the sport’s biggest names.

You can take Daniel Ricciardo out of an F1 car but it seems there is nothing that can wipe the smile of the Aussie legend’s face.

The 35-year-old F1 great was unceremoniously dumped by Red Bull from his VCARB just under a month ago, with replacement Liam Lawson preparing for his second race in the seat.

But while he’s not behind the wheel any more, the Aussie has shown that he’s still one of the biggest names in the sport, going viral after sharing a video on his social media channels.

Currently taking time away from racing before he decides his next move, Ricciardo is making the most of the millions he’s earned throughout his career and taking some much deserved rest.

It’s meant he’s kept a low profile and not posted much to social media.

But his first non-F1 post since he was dumped, fans have gone berserk.

Ricciardo is a known larrikin and has shared a post driving with his mate and belting out the 2017 song In Bloom from Welsh pop punk band Neck Deep, captioning the post “Punk rock kids”.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Ricciardo was feeling it as he belted out the song, drumming on the dash, singing into his mate’s hand like a microphone, and basically just rocking out.

The post has over 570,000 likes on Instagram as well as another 174,000 views on Facebook.

Daniel Ricciardo breaks silence, goes viral

The last time most of the world saw Ricciardo was in Singapore where the Aussie was struggling to hold back tears after what was almost certainly his final race, although it wasn’t officially announced until a week later.

So fans were happy to see his dumping from F1 hadn’t stolen his trademark grin.

“Loving life!!! We miss you Danny Ric but so good to see you being your happy self,” one fan wrote.

“Love seeing you happy,” another posted.

Another added: “It’s nice to see him smiling”.

A fourth commented: “F1 is not the same without you”.

A fifth wrote: “There’s the smile we all missed️. Love opening Instagram to Danny Ric being a passenger princess and just vibing. Social media isn’t so bad after all I guess.”

A sixth posted: “Longest month of my life waiting for a sign of life.”

Others believed his next job could be “Carpool Karaoke as a host”.

Even Neck Deep’s Instagram page sent the horns, while fans were quick to notice that one of the first people to like the post was none another than Ricciardo’s Red Bull ex Max Verstappen.

Since Ricciardo’s exit from Formula One, the only other post Ricciardo has on Instagram was a photo gallery of his final race, which included a helmet swap with rising Aussie F1 star Oscar Piastri.

While it appears as though Ricciardo’s time in F1 is over, the door is not completely closed at this point with Red Bull hoping to sign the Aussie in an ambassadorial role, while also suggesting he could potentially be put back behind the wheel if the team’s current drivers don’t do the job.

Ricciardo has been linked with moves to NASCAR and even Australia’s Supercars category, as well as a move behind the microphone, where there would no doubt be a bidding war for one of the sport’s most popular characters.

But the Aussie also gave an answer via former motocross rider Adam Cianciarulo, who uploaded a photo to Instagram of him and Ricciardo.

In the photo, Ricciardo is a wearing a cap that reads: “I’m retired. Having a good time is my job.”

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner also stated at the US Grand Prix in Austin last weekend that the Aussie would be welcomed back with open arms.

“Daniel grew up with Red Bull and he’s taking some time out at the moment,” Horner said.

“He’d be very welcome anytime to be part of whatever role he elected to want to get involved in when he has a massive profile.”

Horner also suggested Ricciardo could be used to help the sport continue to grow in the US.

“You’re a long-time retired, so if he chose to want to get involved in some activities in the US, in any way, it’s something we’d be very open to,” he stated.
