F1 fan’s wild Airtasker request for the Australian Grand Prix

With massive crowds expected at this week’s Aussie F1 Grand Prix, a local fan has used Airtasker to make a wild request.

The season-opening Australian F1 Grand Prix is known for being the first opportunity to see all the drivers, check out the new-look cars and get a gauge on the leading championship contenders.

It’s also renowned for huge hordes of passionate Formula 1 fans who pack out Albert Park throughout the week of action.

Fox Sports, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch the 2025 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, LIVE in 4K with no ad-breaks during racing. New to Kayo? Get your first month for just $1. Limited time offer.

So an Airtasker user has come up with a novel plan to get as close to the action as possible for the cool asking price of $300.

Airtasker is an online marketplace for outsourcing all manner of jobs, with categories as diverse as pest control, cat care, interior design and tutoring.

Airtasker user Bek D came up with her own unique request, under the title: “Need someone to line up at the Australian Grand Prix on Saturday.”

Fans with general admission tickets to the event can line up for hours before the gates open, including for access to the Melbourne Walk, where fans have an opportunity to meet the drivers for selfies and signatures.

As Bek noted in her post: “The Melbourne Walk is becoming increasingly harder to get a good spot at with some people saying they are going to camp overnight. WILD.”

Bek has tradies coming to her place early on Saturday morning, so she is asking for someone to line up at 4am local time until she can take their place at 7.30am.

And it seems her $300 asking price for just over three hours of work is appealing to plenty of people, with more than 15 “Taskers” already reaching out.

Sharon C replied to the post: “Hi Bek, I’m happy to help out with this task. I live close by and can get to Albert Park earlier than 4am if needed.”

Ali Q stated: “Hi I can do this for you whenever you want. Thanks.”

Nathan R declared: “I am happy to assist you with your task. I have recently moved close by (walking distance) to Albert Park and can do this for you.”

Tim Fung, the founder and chief executive of Airtasker, said Bek’s request is just the type of job his organisation was designed for.

“This is exactly what Airtasker is all about – helping people get things done, no matter the time or place,” he said.

“We’re glad fans can put their trust in our Tasker community to help them make sure it will be a Grand Prix they never forget.”

“Our community of skilled Taskers are always ready to step up and get anything done, whether it is queuing for a unique fan experience, mowing lawns, or help moving home.

“It’s amazing to see how creative people are in using Airtasker to make their lives easier.”

The 2025 Australian F1 Grand Prix runs from Thursday to Sunday, with two practice sessions on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and the race starting from 3pm AEDT on Sunday, along with a host of fan events across the week.
