So who has been the Players of the Season - so far?
WESTERN SUBURBS
Rebecca Storrs
On Tuesday in round 4 Storrs made 101 not out (97 balls) during a Player of the Match performance against Valley.
Pre-Christmas Storrs also scored 98 not out from just 57 balls against University, hitting 13 fours and two sixes.
In round 1 Storrs scored 32 from 55 balls and when called upon, Storrs has also been a more than handy bowler.
Chelsea Sonter
Rebecca Storrs has been the young woman of the moment this season, although Wests’ captain and keeper Sonter has not been far behind.
Last weekend against Valley she stroked 65 and yesterday against the Dolphins Sonter scored 26 not out after starting the season with 102 not out (99 balls).
Ayaka Stafford
Spinner Stafford has been a model of consistency this season, impossible to get on top of.
She claimed 2-17 (eight overs) in round one,, then 8-2-15-3 against Norths in rain affected game, and bowled 4-2-5-0 against University in round two.
Then, on Tuesday, Stafford picked up where she left off after an excellent campaign for the Queensland U16s when she claimed 4-2-4-1 against Valley, and yesterday took 0-4 from four overs against the Dolphins. Phoebe Howard also took 2-8 against Valley.
Special mention: Filippa SueSee supplied one of the season highlights with 76 (65 balls) in round 1, while Charlotte Rafton took 3-36 in the same match.
Abbie Trevethan
Trevethan scored 103 not out from 66 balls in round 2 against University, and then the Queensland batting ace claimed 2-3 from three overs on Tuesday in round 4 against Valley while also taking 1-17 in the big clash against the Gold Coast on Wednesday.
Special mention: Madhumika Dinesh (Wests) is the baby of the competition but is progressing with his pace bowling and batting. On Wednesday against Gold Coast she bowled 4-1-17-1.
Another rookie on the rise is Lucy Logan who yesterday scored 51 not out (45 balls).
WYNNUM MANLY
Astrid Muniandy
The cream rose to the top in round one when the Queensland U16 representative scored 116 from 93 balls, and then scored 46 not out from 33 balls in the second match of the season.
Tarnia Elvy
Has had a good season, in her three games taking 1-19 against University, 2-12 against South Brisbane and 2-11 on Tuesday
Wynnum have had other contributors at the bowling crease including Aurelia Burgess (2-6, 2-1), Jessica Johnston (2-22, 2-17), but Elvy has been very good in her three appearances.
Special mention: Jayani Maharaj for her 56 (run out) in round two against South Brisbane, and to Paige Simpson (31) and Lucy Mills (30) on Tuesday.
NORTHERN SUBURBS
Bridie Swain
The Norths’ captain HAS led from the front, facing the first ball to score 62 not out (121) against the powerful Wests in round 3, and a blistering 46 from just 34 balls in during the successful round two run chase against Valley.
The yesterday Swain scored 35 not out. Swain opened the season by scoring 29, also run out, against Gold Coast in a rain affected match.
The cool head of Manbir Kaur also prevailed in a round two run chase when she scored 40 not out from 50 balls after taking 1-8.
Lilly Rosengren
Rosengren has top scored twice for Norths, so far, during the opening four rounds.
She made 32 in round one before the heavens opened and the game was abandoned, and on Tuesday in round four she scored 36 from 50 balls to help Norths generate a winning total.
On Tuesday, Rosengren received grand support from Sara Lalwani (30, 44 balls).
Sara Lalwani
Lalwani was superb for Norths earlier this week during the round four clash when she claimed 2-15 from six overs against Wynnum.
She had outstanding support from Lydia Rolley (1-13, five overs) who built pressure early, but it was Lalwani’s spell during the peak of the run chase which underpinned a thrilling nine run win over the Sea Eagles.
IPSWICH
Sage Martin
The Ipswich Hornets captain, Martin scored 102 not out in round 1 to announce herself in the competition.
From the sporting rich Lockyer valley, country girl Sage faced just 97 balls during her unbeaten innings, scoring 102 out of a team total of 183.
A 2024 Queensland schoolgirls’ 15 years team representative, Sage is no stranger to raising the bat in the Tav’s U16s - last season she also scored a century.
Sage also top scored with 17 against South Brisbane, and scored 20 in round two against Sunshine Coast, although her vice-captain Marley Stokes (49, 49 balls) top scored in that match against the Scorchers.
Special mention: Constance O’Hara for her 3-17 from five overs against South Brisbane in round 3 and 1-13 against Gold Coast.
VALLEY
Alyssa Tinetti and co
Despite confronting Ipswich opener Sage Martin, mentioned earlier, in full cry during round 1, Tinetti held her game together to take 3-22 from 6.4 against Ipswich.
Emma Swanepoel also defied Martin’s blazing bat to snare 2-9 from three overs, while Valley captain Deepika Bogahawatta took a commendable 3-34.
Deepika Bogahawatta and Chelsea Dale
The season could not have started any better for Valley openers Bogahawatta (70, 57 balls) and Chelsea Dale (64 not out, 55 balls) in a grand run chase of 183 against Ipswich.
Dale also scored 28 from 40 balls in round two against Norths.
Emma Swanepoel
Swanepoel has been a handy player so far this season.
Swanepoel also scored 14 not out and took 1-28 against Norths in round 2, scored another 14 not out and claimed a wicket against Wests.
Then yesterday Swamepoel took another wicket after claiming a wicket on Tuesday against a runaway Wests’ batting line-up, although Valley’s best round four bowlers against Wests were Ophelia Donohue, Emily Honsig-Erlenburg (1-32, eigth overs) and Poppy Irvine (0-25, six overs). Donohue then starred on Wednesday with 3-11 from four overs against the Gators, while Irvine took (1-22).
GOLD COAST
Riley Dealy
Helensvale junior Dealy lit up the competition in round two with a sensational century against Sandgate-Redcliffe. With a remarkable eye, Dealy scored 108 from just 66 balls, stroking a remarkable 22 boundaries. Wow.
Dealy has the impressive trait of watching the ball onto her bat and it is paying off.
Uditi Ratnala, Amelia Kuhn, Amy Evison and co
Uditi Ratnala was the Dolphins’ player of the match in round four against Ipswich on Tuesday, top scoring with 20 and taking 3-23 from eight overs.
But top of the pops has been Amelia Kuhn.
Kuhn bowled 6.4-2-11-4 on Wednesday against Ipswich.
Around them Amy Evison has been a leader of the pack, building pressure and snaring wickets here and there.
Evison claimed 2-20 and Indiana Palmer 2-18 during the round three clash.
In round two Amelia Kuhn (2-27) again led the way, with lots of help from Palmer (1-25) and Evison (1-22).
Special mention: Lauren Patterson for her 42, 56, 30 and 39 so far this season and also Alvina Rauf who has been among the runs at the top of the order.
SUNSHINE COAST
Murraya Buckley and Evie Baker
Buckley’s dramatic 100 not out from 82 balls on Tuesday against University was matched only by Evie Baker’s 100 from 86 balls.
Peyton Meredith and Jasmine Comerford have also had good seasons with the bat while Josephine Black has been consistent with the ball, but the recent memory of Tuesday’s onslaught by Baker and Buckley is hard to top as a season highlight.
Then on Wednesday Buckley scored another 36 against Wynnum.
Brooke Morrish
While Buckley and Baker were amazing with the bat, Morrish was also sensational on Tuesday and again on Wednesday.
On Tuesday she produced a 6.4 over burst which yielded remarkable figures of 5-5, and then on Wednesday took 3-18 and also scored 25.
She had started the season with 1-27 from eight overs against South Brisbane.
SOUTH BRISBANE
Lucinda Hillier
The South Brisbane captain, Hillier started the season with 45 from 44 balls and 2-11, and has tried to lead by example since.
On Tuesday she top scored with 44 from 49 balls, after also taking 1-41 against the powerful Sandgate-Redcliffe side. In round three Hillier also claimed 1-11.
Letitia Watson
Pace bowler Watson was outstanding for South Brisbane in the first half of the season.
She started the season with 2-12 in round one, 1-15 in round two and then she claimed a season best 3-19 in round three.
Tanisha Gudigar
The South Brisbane captain was outstanding game number one when she took 2-29 against the Sea Eagles after top scoring with 33 not out (53 balls).
She also top scored in the second match against powerhouse Wests with 39 not out after claiming a wicket, and on Wednesday she scored 42 not out (38 balls).
Special mention: Reniesha-Rub Rony who scored 40 not out from 46 balls out of South Brisbane’s total of 97, and to Tanisha Gudigar for her 2-30 against the powerhouse Gators on Tuesday.
SANDGATE-REDCLIFFE
Jessica Cremin
The Queensland representative has been the Gators’ best this season.
She has scores of 53, 41 and 37, and on Tuesday claimed a season best 3-13.
Earlier in the pre-Christmas period she claimed 2-42 against the powerful Wests.
Sofia Velic has also been consistent with scores of 42 not out, 29 and 36 not out.
Special mention: Abigail Burgess for her 2-15 on Tuesday against South Brisbane when she took the new ball, while Matisse Easton scored 59 prior to Christmas.
UNIVERSITY
Special mention: Aarya Repal for her gallant 29 from 36 balls on Tuesday in a collapsing innings, and also 15 again on Wednesday.
Also, Uni’s Ishani Singh for her 1-36 against a rampant Sunshine Coast pair of Evie Baker and Murraya Buckley.
