A dozen supporters have escaped serious injury after a stand at Leichhardt Oval collapsed during a schoolboy rugby game.
Video of the incident shows the group of young men fall forward from the packed crowd at the St Joseph’s v St Ignatius rugby union match.
The fall happened just as a Joey player went over for a try.
A police spokesman said the boys were standing on a disused toilet block when they celebrated and went over a railing.
Paramedic crews already at the game treated some of the group at the scene but the majority were not injured.
No one was transported to hospital, NSW Ambulance said.
It comes just days after the state government was slammed for backing out of a deal that would have seen the oval and its facilities upgraded.
Inner West Council Mayor Darcy Byrne led the calls for the government to honour its agreement, telling Premier Dominic Perrottet to hand back his Wests membership.
St Joseph’s won the game 35-20.
