Queensland and NSW underlined their superiority by taking the two titles on offer at the U15, U17 boys water polo nationals in Melbourne on Sunday.
Queensland took the U15 title in a thriller, edging out NSW 8-7. But the roles were reversed in the U17s as NSW powered ahead late to win 11-6.

17 & Under Boys - NSW Blues 11 d QLD Maroon 6
In an engaging battle between two power states of water polo, NSW came up trumps.
The Blues took the match by five goals, much to the delight of their coach, Scott Nicholson.
“It was the first game where they played four quarters of great defence and they also executed our game plan perfectly,” he said.
“Queensland were a hell of a team, but today was our day.”
Blues goalie Thomas Serhan was one of the standouts in the match.

NSW Waratahs v WA Gold (U17 Bronze)
17 & Under Boys - NSW Waratahs 12 d WA Gold 8
The NSW Waratahs secured the bronze medal in the 17 and under championships with their four-goal victory over WA.
The Waratahs came from behind early to lead going into halftime.
By the third period the Waratahs had opened up a 10-5 lead to stamp their dominance on the match.
While outscored in the final period, the Waratahs still clinched the bronze medal.
Tadija Pribakovic topcored for NSW with three goals while Lewis Saupin and Rex Palazzi both fired in two goals each.
Owen Lilleyman also nailed three goals in the match for WA.
15 & Under Boys Gold Medal - QLD Maroon 8 d NSW Blues 7
This match lived up to its hype with the Queenslanders just edging their NSW rivals, taking the match by one goal in front of a vocal crowd in Melbourne.
The NSW Blues came back from two down twice in the decider to be level at 7-7 with 90 seconds to play.
But Queensland broke the deadlock just seconds later to set up their gold medal win after leading 5-3 at halftime.
“It was a great game, they are a great group of kids. They play as a team, there’s no individual, they all play for each other,” said winning coach Toby Fitzgerald.
“We were really focused on our defence in all our games this week. Our whole focus was to shut team out.
“I’m very proud of them.”
WA Gold v ACT (U15, Bronze)
The ACT claimed the bronze medal with their 8-4 win over WA Gold.
Thomas Dreverman was the topscorer for WA with two goals, but it was the ACT who dominated the match.
Lachlan Davies and Hamish Ellison were both in fine form, scoring three goals each for the ACT while Lincoln Nicholson chipped in two.
DAY THREE REPLAYS AND REPORTS
In the first semi on Saturday in the 15s, the NSW Blues convincingly beat WA Gold.
The Blues won the match 19-6 to book their grand final spot on Sunday.
In the second match between the QLD Maroon and ACT
it was the Queenslanders who came up trumps with an 11-7 win.
The 17 and under same state semi-final between NSW Blues v NSW Waratahs was a close encounter.
In the end the Blues edged the Waratahs 13-11 to advance into the gold medal playoff.
In the following match between QLD Maroon and WA Gold, the Maroon side took the victory to set up a meeting with the Blues in the 17s gold medal decider.

In the 17 and under boys competition on Friday results included South Australia defeating ACT/TAS 10–9, Queensland Maroon beating NSW Waratah‘s 16–9, Barbarians Blue beating Queensland Gold 12–6, NSW Blue beating WA Gold 13-12, Queensland Maroon recording a 23–12 win over WA Black, NSW Wararahs beating South Australia 22–4 and WA Gold beating Victoria Silver 6–5.
Results in the 15 and under competition included a hotly contested 6–6 draw between South Australia and NSW Waratahs, Queensland Maroon beating WA Gold 12–8, ACT defeating WA Black 17–4, NSW Blues beating Victoria Navy 23–8, WA Gold beating Tasmania 22–3, Queensland Maroon beating South Australia 28–6 and Victoria Navy defeating Queensland Gold 11–6.

DAY ONE REPORT
The two teams kicked off the campaign for the national title with two wins on the opening day.
In the 17 and under competition the NSW Waratah’s also produced two good wins on day one.
Results in the 15s competition on day one included the NSW Blues beating Queensland Gold 22–6, the ACT beating Victoria Navy 21–7, Queensland Maroon beating Tasmania 32–0, WA Gold beating the NSW Waratah‘s 12–8, the NSW Blues beating the ACT 15–11, Queensland Gold beating WA Black 12–6 and Queensland Maroon beating the NSW Wararahs 17–7 and SA beating Tasmania 10-7.
Results in the 17 and under competition included a 13-13 draw between the NSW and Victoria Silver, WA Gold beating Queensland Gold 22–5, the NSW Waratahs beating WA Black 32–10 and Queensland Maroon defeating ACT/Tasmania 15–4.
The NSW Blues older brigade alos scored a 28-6 win over Queensland Gold, while Victoria Silver bested Barbarians Blue 21–8 and the NSW Waratahs defeated ACT/TAS 28–3.
