The Drummoyne Devils have locked in their spot in the men’s bracket of the Australian Water Polo League finals series with a come-from-behind one-point win over Balmain.
In the final match of the regular season on Sunday night, Drummoyne’s Jack Deely scored two goals in the final quarter to secure an 11-10 win.

But the hosts had to do it the hard way after trailing 3-1 at the opening break.
A three goal fight back in the second quarter levelled the scores at halftime before the Devils kicked clear with a match-defining 4-3 third term.
The Tigers refused to go away in their quest to finish a fruitless season the right way, with Mitch Robinson and Simone Bertino both scoring hattricks.
The finals series kicks off in Sydney on April 27 and runs for four days at Sydney Olympic Park.
Drummoyne Devils v UNSW Wests Killer Whales (Women)
UNSW Wests avenged their Australian water polo league loss to Drummoyne on Saturday night with an entertaining 14-11 defeat of their rivals on Sunday.
Playing at Drummoyne pool, Wests set up their victory with a 5-0 first period.
A night earlier Drummoyne had beaten Wests 13-8.
Dayna Garside starred for UNSW Wests with five goals in the final meetup of the round while Daisy Carter scored a double in the first period and one in the final.
Pip Pikkin scored three for the hosts.
Balmain may be struggling to make the Australian Water Polo League finals, but captain Danny Lawrence doesn’t see it as a lost cause.
Matches this weekend are the last chance for teams to make the top four, with only these positions contesting the 2023 Australian water polo league crown in the four-day finals series in Sydney later this month.
Balmain, who are sixth on the Championship ladder, face fourth-placed Drummoyne Devils in a two-match series, the final of which on Sunday can be seen LIVE on KommunityTV.

Lawrence said his side will come out with intent this weekend
“Basically we have to win our last two and some other results have to fall our way for us to get through,’’ he said.
“It’s in our hands.’’
Lawrence said the last time the two sides met, Balmain were edged by a goal.
“It will fire us up,’’ he said.
“We know we are in touch and have to out it together both nights.’’
Heading into the weekend’s 10th round on Saturday and 11th round on Sunday, Sydney Uni are on top of the men’s ladder ahead of UNSW, with the two clubs sharing the same 6-1-1 win/draw/loss record.
Fremantle Marlins lead the women’s ladder from Sydney Uni.
The AWL finals series kicks off in Sydney on April 27 and brings together the best players in the country, including many of the players who will represent Australia at next year’s Paris Olympics.
