Netball SA Premier League 2025 live stream: Tango v Newton Jaguars, Round 9

Tango have made it three wins for the season and set themsevles up for a late-season run at the finals after a dominant performance against the Jaguars. Watch the REPLAYS.

Star shooter Jacoba Clough was given a well-earned early mark midway through the fourth quarter after helping Tango to a comfortable 20-goal win in the Netball SA Premier League.

Clough dominated the shooting circle over the first three quarters, before being given an early mark after racking up a team-high 37 goals.

The Tango girls exploded to an early lead, and their consistency with the ball in hand meant they were never headed by a willing Newton Jaguars, running out 68-47 winners.

The Jaguars showed plenty of life in the contest, but poor handling or mistimed passes around the shooting circle let the side down when it mattered most.

Ebony Schache, who played most of the contest at goal shooter, finished with a team-high 20 goals for Jaguars, while young gun Amber Schultz made the most of her opportunity in the second half to grab 14.

The win makes it three for the season for Tango as they prepare for a Round 10 clash with last-placed Metro Jets next week.

The run doesn’t get any easier for the Jags as they prepare to meet top of the table Oakdale.

Tango survived an almighty scare in the Premier League Reserves clash between the two sides, with a late four goal run delivering a 48-43 win over the Newton Jaguars.

The Tango side had extended their lead to double digits at halftime of the back of a brilliant start from Caitlin Ralston, before the Jaguars came alive in the third term.

The confidence oozed from the Jaguars coming out of halftime, with the injection of Tahlia Dillon into the centre circle inspiring them to reduce the margin to three points at three-quarter time.

The Jaguars got it down to a single goal early in the final term before the late introduction of Letisha Bartsch swung the contest back to Tango.

PREVIEW

With just six games remaining under the Newton Jaguars brand, head coach Lee-Anne Cummings is hoping her developing side can translate their recent improved form into some winning results before season’s end.

The 1-7 Jaguars have performed strongly in recent weeks, going down in close losses to Metro Jets and Contax, and will be hoping a meeting with the 2-6 Tango can result in their second win of the Netball SA Premier League season on Wednesday night.

The Jaguars and Tango clash will be available live and exclusive on KommunityTV from 7pm.

Speaking on Tuesday, Cummings revealed Newton was set to rebrand as Norwood Netball Club from next year, forming an amalgamation with the famous Norwood Football Club.

And while it means time is running out to once again celebrate a victory under their Jaguars banner, Cummings said Wednesday’s clash presented as a perfect opportunity to notch up a victory.

“If we’re being realistic, Wednesday night is probably our best chance to notch up another win,” Cummings said.

“That’s just given our recent form and where both teams sit on the ladder. We also obviously want to be more competitive in the back-half of the season leading up to our rebranding as the Norwood Netball Club next year.

“We’re hoping some good form can potentially attract some new players as well to come over to help launch our new era.”

Wednesday’s clash between Newton and Tango will be the second time the two have faced off this season.

Last meeting in round 2, Tango came away with a 63-51 victory.

“We need to get off to a fast start,” Cumming said.

“We find ourselves, quite often, playing catch-up after slow starts and having to build into the game. That’s been our focus this week.

“Tango have a key focal point in the circle with Jacoba Clough. She does the majority of their shooting so we’ve been looking at strategies to keep the ball out of her hands.

“She’s very accurate once she gets so we sort of need that full court defence to turn the ball over before it actually goes into the circle”
