A damaging ball-running display from Erindale College captain Regan Carr has capped off a mighty win for Erindale College in the Peter Mulholland Cup.
The rampaging centre scored four tries for the home side as they ran out comfortable 38-18 winners over Victorian rivals The Grange College.
Carr scored his tries in bursts and on both occasions stopped the visitors in their tracks as they appeared to be mounting a fight back.
In the shadows of halftime the inspirational skipper scored two tries in as many minutes to stretch the home side’s lead to 28-4 at the main break.

Poor handling in the second half had the home side on the back foot, with The Grange scoring two tries to reduce the deficit to 16 points and give the visitors a sniff of a comeback.
But again it would be Carr, whose strength proved undeniable, as he crashed across for another two tries in as many minutes to snuff out the fight back.
Max Mercer was another who impressed for the home side, moving between the centres and forward pack in a Mr Fix-It role for coach Ash Barnes.
“It was a really good game, coming into it we knew they would be physical and up for the clash,” Carr said.
“We had a bad captain’s run (on Tuesday), the energy just wasn’t there, and I really took that personally because I am the captain. I wanted to come out and lead by example today.
“It is good to score the tries, but I am just grateful for the boys around me who all do their jobs. I knew I had to back myself on a couple of those and I just put my head down and went for it.”
Erindale’s discipline with the ball came under fire across a lot of the game, with the home side gifting possession to their rivals and allowing them back into the clash.
They struggled to complete a set for most of the second half, before Carr found his way to the stripe with 10 minutes to go.
The captain said the side hadn’t quite reached the lofty standards they set for themselves, but that it would give them plenty to work on ahead of next week’s final round clash against Hallam College in Victoria.
“We want to play to our standards,” he said. “We probably didn’t reach it, it was good to get the win but we were definitely short of where we need to be.
“It is good having something to work on, it keeps you humble.”
Powerful lock forward Muao Kaisala was the best on ground for the visitors while Suliasi Prescott, who switched into the halves for the clash, never stopped trying across the 60 minutes and crashed across for a late consolation try.
PREVIEW: The Grange searching for redemption in the Peter Mulholland Cup
Victoria’s The Grange College will look to reverse their form in this year’s NRL Schoolboys Cup when they head north to the former home of the Canberra Raiders on Wednesday.
But they face quite a challenge at Seiffert Oval against Erindale College, who put Illawarra Sports High to the sword in their first game of the tournament.
The match will be exclusively live streamed by KommunityTV from 1pm.
Beaten 42-10 by fellow Victorians Hallam College the last time they played back in early June, Grange have been “doing a lot of video sessions and breaking down our performance against Hallam”, according to coach Shannon Love.
“It is purely based around our performance and executing the things we need to get the job done.”
They will have the benefit of fielding a much stronger squad than in the game against Hallam.
“Unfortunately we weren’t at full strength and a few of the younger boys had to step up during that game, but we’re lucky enough to be pretty much fully fit for this round here at Erindale,” said Love.
Despite not having played a Peter Mulholland Cup game since June 1, when they ran in 64 unanswered points, Erindale have not taken their foot off the pedal.
The school had a large contingent of players representing ACT in the Australian Secondary School Championships earlier this month, including players such as Noah Martin and Sam Gash.
“A lot of those guys got a really good exposure to a high level of play at Redcliffe during the holidays, which allowed us to keep continuing to play the game we want and continue to build our combinations, which has been great,” said coach Ash Barnes.
The squad will look slightly different, with Barnes having said centre Jacob Iosefa is out for the remainder of the competition after breaking his arm during an ASSRL game against Queensland.
The boys have not only impressed Barnes on the field, but off it as well, with the coach quick to praise their academic efforts, in particular captain Regan Carr.
