Jada Taylor put on a clinic in the Roosters Indigenous Academy’s 24 to 0 rout of the Wests Tigers at a muddy Leichhardt Oval.
The Roosters five-eighth was playing her first game of the Tarsha Gale Cup season, but she didn’t miss a beat with four outstanding solo tries.
The visitors had a four-try first half with tries for Milly Lupo and Leilani Wilson sandwiched between Taylor’s first two four-pointers.

The one-way traffic continued in the second half with Taylor showing off her powerful running game to score a further two tries to round out the 24-0 win.
The margin could have been greater had Mia Barber been given an easier task with the boot. The Roosters winger was unsuccessful with all six of her conversion attempts.

The win keeps Blake Cavallaro’s side at the top of the table and he told The Sunday Telegraph he was impressed with the Roosters’ ability to do the simple things right.
“We were big on talking about our fundamentals this week,” he said.

Excellent combo with halfback Tayla Montgomery who was also really good this afternoon.

“We wanted to make sure we completed our sets and got to our kicks – that was our biggest talking point during the week.
“Jada hasn’t been able to play unfortunately so this was her first game and she was awesome. Jada is powerful, she’s strong, she’s got good footwork and she’s got a big future in the game that’s for sure.”
The Indigenous Academy will host the Bulldogs next Saturday with Wests travelling across Sydney Harbour to take on the Bears.
Tigers put weight on Cup clashes
WHILE the rain might have played havoc for footy clubs across Sydney this week, Balmain Tigers SG Ball coach Gavin Sheehan has implored his troops to embrace it.
The Tigers will battle a sizeable Newcastle in the wet at Leichhardt Oval, a match that will be exclusively live streamed by the Daily Telegraph as part of our season-long commitment to junior rugby league.
The Tigers and Knights clash has taken over the stream after the weather forced the closure of several suburban grounds and impacted our scheduled stream of the Dragons and Sea Eagles.
The Tigers have refused to be disrupted by the wet this week, and Sheehan believes it could almost play into the club’s hands as they aim to overcome a hungry Knights pack.
The coach has made several key personnel changes, including moving 100kg winger Joseph Delle to fullback as they aim to capitalise on his additional size and explosive power.
“Absolutely he is ready for that (switch),” Sheehan said.
“He is keen to play fullback and I think he has got the nous to play fullback. He just needs to be able to count numbers in his attack and understand where to play and get really involved. I don’t think he will have any trouble with that.”
But it is what the Monaro Colts junior does off the ball that will count the most on what is expected to be a boggy Leichhardt Oval surface.
The Tigers have made a point of snuffing out opposition attacks this season with a 2-1 record across the opening three rounds.
They have only aimed to strengthen that resolve by adding size to the middle of the field with captain Cayne Nicholas moving from lock to dummy-half while Finnely Neilsen has come into the starting side.
“We are quite a good defensive team, we will be working hard in that space,” Sheehan said. “Then we will look to our halves to control the game with their kicking game.
“They work really well for each other as a group, they are quite aggressive and possess good line speed. It has been a great start and we were very unlucky to lose last week (against Canterbury).
“I think the coach of Canterbury summed it up really well in saying that we are a tight knit group and play for each other. It makes me proud to hear that. It says we are putting in the hard work as a group and it is paying off.”
The defensive staunch of the Tigers will certainly be put to the test by a Knights outfit who are running hot off the back of a 42-6 drubbing of the Rabbitohs last weekend.
Twin magic setting the Roosters apart
The Roosters Indigenous Academy has been a dominant force over the opening rounds of the Tarsha Gale Cup dazzling their opponents to such an extent they think they’re seeing double.
Well, they are, thanks to the efforts of the Wilson twins.
Sisters Leilani and Anneka Wilson, who represented NSW at under-16 level together, have been strong contributors to the Roosters undefeated start to the season with their mix of staunch defence and raw athletic power.
But that doesn’t mean they are the same player by any stretch.
Anneka is a dummy-half who possesses a high work rate and crisp service from the ruck, while Leilani has stationed herself on an edge using her power to break through defensive lines.
Leilani scored two tries in the Roosters dominant win over the Sharks last weekend and has been named in the backrow to take on the Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval.
The Roosters and Tigers clash will be part of the Daily Telegraph’s exclusive NSWRL junior representatives live stream.
