The new NRL Schools season kicks into full gear this week with the first Peter Mulholland Cup games in NSW - and there is plenty to savour over the next five months.
After teaming up again with the NRL, KommunityTV is the only place to watch the best young players in the game in action from NSW, Queensland and Victoria, with over 120 games set to be LIVE STREAMED.
The competition has already begun in Melbourne, with Hallam College showing their Storm Cup title potential with a pair of early wins.
Under a fresh structure with plenty of incentive, the 2024 Peter Mulholland Cup gets underway on Tuesday as St Dominic’s host St Gregory’s in a local derby from 1.30pm.
The Queensland Schoolboys season gets underway on Tuesday, May 28 with the Dolphin Cup. The Langer Trophy follows on Wednesday, May 29 and the Payne Cup on Thursday, May 30.
On the back of Mabel Park’s national success over Hills Sports in the 2023 decider, there will again be coverage of Schoolgirls games this year from both NSW and Queensland.
Westfields are the defending national boys champions after winning the NSW competition with a grand final victory over Patrician Brothers Blacktown. They followed it up by beating Gold Coast’s Palm Beach Currumbin in the national decider.
Westfields playmaker and Current Wests Tigers star Lachlan Galvin was one of the stars of the 2023 season, but he endured a rough ride in the final against Patrician Brothers, Blacktown, spoiling a near-certain try minutes from the end - and then being sin binned.
NRL Participation Ambassador Brad Fittler spoke glowingly of his time playing Schoolboys footy and was looking forward to a big season ahead.
“We’re really excited for the 2024 NRL Schoolboy and Schoolgirl Cups to kick off,” he said.
