Replay: Innisfail v Kangaroos (A-Grade)—2025 FNQRL Round 5

There may not be a better chance for Edmonton and Yarrabah to snare their first win of the Far North Queensland Rugby League season than this Saturday.

With both clubs experiencing winless starts to their campaigns, expect a ferocious battle when they face off in the KommunityTV match of the round from Jilara Oval.

The A-Grade and reserves matches will be broadcast live and exclusive, along with the women’s clash between the Storm and Ivanhoes.

Edmonton’s disappointing form hit a low point last time out when it was battered 74-0 by Mareeba, however Storm coach Frank Crathern said his side remained keen to hit the field every single week.

“Week in, week out we look forward to the chance to go out and play,” Crathern said.

“We were only left with four A-grade players from last year’s side, so we’ve got a lot of young lads who are still learning about what A-grade standard is like.

“That 74-0 loss last week against Mareeba I think was a real wake up call for us.”

A winless start and a massive defeat can easily demoralise a team, but Crathern said the Storm were keeping themselves focused on just improving every single week at training.

“We’ve got a 2-3 year plan in place to get ourselves to where we want to get to, but for now the focus is getting these kids used to what comes with playing at this level,” he said.

“We’ve got some more experienced heads waiting in the wings who we’re hoping to get back at some point.”

While the Seahawks are in a very similar position with no wins yet on their resume, Crathern said that isn’t factoring into their considerations heading into the matchup.

“They could easily trash us or we could beat them, regardless of the ladder,” he said.

“So really it’s about us worrying about what we can control and bringing our game to the table.

“Not getting our heads down and embracing mistakes. My boys need to know they’re not going to lose their place in my team just because they make an error, we learn from it and get better.”

KommunityTV’s coverage of Saturday’s action will begin at 3pm with the women’s fixture, with the reserves beginning at 4.30pm and finally A-grade at 6pm.
