Before the best of the best in Australian futsal go to work in the open men’s and open women’s finals, the juniors will be facing off to decide the golden winners.

We have picked out only a few of the most anticipated deciders that you won’t want to miss.

The exciting day of grand final action will begin at 10.30am and take you through to the final game at 7pm.

It will be a captivating start to the day when the Victorian U12 boys chase gold against Queensland on pitch 2 at 10.30am.

Victoria have been the in-form team in the U12 boys competition although the form of Queensland would suggest they are capable of giving the tournament hosts a shock in front of their home fans.

Time will tell.

At midday, the excitement will go to another level when the U16 boys grand final kicks off on pitch 7 in what is tipped to be a nail biter between Queensland and NSW Country.

With Queensland defeating NSW Country 7-4 in their previous meeting on Monday, they hold the box seat.

But with Queensland losing 2-0 to NSW Metro on Tuesday, it has given NSW Country every hope of bouncing back in what would be a national title victory.

This game is one you won’t want to miss.

At 2.30pm, it will be a test of stamina for the U17 girls who will play their second game in one day to decide the gold winning team.

In the U15 girls grand final on pitch 1 at 3pm, Victoria will be striving for a big reply against NSW Country after they were defeated 4-3 in a nail biting group stage match on Monday.

The day is set to finish with two huge grand finals on pitch five where crowds will gather in droves to see the open women’s and men’s deciders.

Out of the men’s open competition, just NSW Thunder, Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia are left in it.

While in the women’s open competition, ACT, Queensland, NSW Thunder and Victoria remain in the battle for gold.

What is Futsal?

Futsal – a contraction of the Spanish words futbol sala (indoor football) is a modified version of indoor football played on hard surfaces such as hardwood basketball courts.

The game involves five players on each side – including a goalkeeper – with unlimited substitutions.

Futsal matches use a smaller, heavier soccer ball which puts the emphasis on fast footwork and crisp passing in a confined space.

The game originated in South America, but has been worldly recognised as the premier version of indoor football, even adopted by world football governing body FIFA.

The original game of futsal was a mash-up of multiple sports with the five-a-side team sizes and 40 minute duration from basketball, pitch and goal dimensions from handball and goalkeeper rules from water polo.

Futsal has made a rapid rise from its humble beginnings in the 1980s, to include professional leagues around the world as well as national and world championships.
