In an entertaining close to an exciting second day at the Australian Basketball Schools Championships, two of the tournament’s most exciting bigs stood tall in a ding dong dunking battle.

During an entertaining stretch late in Brisbane State High’s hammering of Willeton in the Championship boys division, Roman Siulepa had his way in a back and forth with WA tall Nicholus Lahiri.

Lahiri threw down a huge dunk that had the fans on the sideline in full voice.

He tried it again but, this time, Siulepa wasn’t having it, skying to denying Lahiri at the rim, jamming his dunk attempt against the backboard

He walked back up the court with a shoosh for the crowd, before hammering down his own two-handed dunk.

The same boys on the sideline went nuts and he ran past them with a big smile and asked them “Which side are you watching?”

No doubt the kid is a character and an entertainer.

That preceded a bit of a system failure at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre, the scoreboard and shot clock when down with about 45 seconds to play, causing a long delay before Brisbane was declared a 102-65 winner.

It delivered a second win for the day to the unbeaten State High side, who will stroll into the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

There were several stand out moments across the second day of the tournament with the kids from the capital leading the way again as Lake Ginninderra College’s boys and girls sides finished the regular rounds undefeated.
