Victoria and New South Wales’ development sides have shown they are anything but second-rate following a thrilling men’s quarter-final. Watch all the Show Court REPLAYS here.

They may have been selected as their states’ second sides but Victoria Navy and New South Wales Blues have produced a first-class quarter-final.

In one of the games of the day, the two development sides went toe-to-to in a tense and tight clash before the Vics pulled away late to prevail 76-71.

It was one of six Show Court matches broadcast live on KommunityTV on Friday.

The win kept Navy’s undefeated record going ahead of Saturday’s semi-finals.

A standout game from Joel Robinson (24 points, nine rebounds, four assists) was the spark the Vics needed against a competitive NSW outfit.

Austin Foxwell (20 points) and Marcus Krasnadamskis (14 points, 11 rebounds) were also prolific.

Henry Lau was impressive on both ends for the Blues in a 17-point performance.

And the edge over their north of the border rivals didn’t end there with Victoria taking down NSW 89-53 in the quarter-final clash between their top sides.

A 28-11 first term ensured the dominant Vics were never troubled on their way through to the next round.

Earlier, in women’s action, Queensland bounced into the next round with a comfortable 73-55 victory over Tasmania with contributors right across the court.

SA meanwhile was well-matched by Victoria Navy in their semi-final before the class of Coco Hodges, Krystal Thompson and Georgina Salandra got the Croweaters across the line.

A huge opening quarter saw Tasmania’s Ivor Burge men’s side keep their tournament alive with a 132-59 win over Queensland.

The boys from the Apple Isle dominated from bell to bell to open proceedings on Friday with two players standing up when it mattered most.

The path for an all-Victorian men’s gold medal match at the Basketball Australia Under-20 & Ivor Burge National Championships is set after both sides finished undefeated an on top of their respective.

But their rivals from north of the border will be looking to spoil the home state party when the quarter-finals begin on Friday.

Six matches from the Show Court in Ballarat will be live streamed here by KommunityTV from 9am.

Headlining the action is the final clash of the day when Victoria and New South Wales go head-to-head in a knockout clash from 7pm.

The Vics have been almost unrivalled so far, with a deep roster led by the likes of Luke Fennell, Dash Daniels and Ned Renfree sweeping all before them.

Their development side, Victoria Navy, has proven itself a serious contender also.

The also undefeated Navy taken on second-side counterparts NSW Blues in their quarter-final.

Women’s quarter-final action will also hit the Show Court when South Australia battle Victoria Navy at 1pm and the impressive top-seeded Queensland takes on Tasmania.

Beginning the day, Tasmania plays Queensland and NSW faces WA in back-to-back Ivor Burge men’s elimination finals.

Every match of the Basketball Australia Under-20 and Ivor Burge National Championships will be exclusively live streamed on KommunityTV from January 28 – February 2.
