An extraordinary individual performance has help catapult the Australian Capital Territory into the Ivor Burge women’s final at the national championships.

Jasmin Funnell recorded 26 points and a staggering 38 rebounds as the ACT defeat rivals New South Wales 76-71 in the semi-final on Saturday.

They will now take on 2024 champions Victoria in Sunday’s grand final.

The ACT led by eight points at half-time but found themselves down by four going into the last after a huge NSW resurgence.

Janssen finished the match with 19 points while Swanston added 18.

Funnell was the star though, making three clutch shots in the dying stages to close out the win.

Of her remarkable 18 rebounds, 22 came of the defensive board and 16 on offense.

However, Funnell along with Madlyn Janssen and Tamika Swanston were up to the task to inspire the women from the capital to a stirring victory.

On the NSW side Brittany Anderson was brilliant in defeat as she notched 37 points and 13 rebounds while Taylor Anderson had 16 points.

Western Australia will look to put the disappointment of two tough finals exits in the past to take some positives from its remaining matches at the Basketball Australia Under-20 & Ivor Burge National Championships.

WA will take on the ACT and New South Wales in women’s and men’s consolation clashes respectively on Saturday.

They will be among the Court 6 matches live streamed here on KommunityTV from 9am.

The Sandgropers will be smarting after giving up healthy half-time leads and going on to lose in both men’s and women’s quarter-finals.

But they do have plenty to look forward to with strong performances in those games from the likes of Harrison Fitzgerald and Kiara Waite.

The biggest clash of the day on Court 6 will come at 5pm in the form of an Ivor Burge women’s semi-final.

Teams for the final four in that competition won’t be known until after the morning matches have been played, including SA and the ACT’s game at 11am.

Sandwiched either side of the semi-final will be an IB men’s play-off between Queensland and WA before an IB women’s play-off to close the day’s action.
