Replay: Basketball Australia Under-18 National Championships Day 8 - NSW Metro v South Australia Metro (Girls Gold Medal)

Brisbane is hosting the 2023 U18 National Basketball Championships and Kevin Coombs Cup - and KommunityTV has a front row seat reserved for you.

It’s the second collaboration between Basketball Australia and News Corp this year after the success of the U20 Championships in Geelong in February. The U16 nationals, U14 Club Championships and Schools Championships are still to come.

Thirty state teams from right across Australia will battle it out for national glory at Brendale, the home of the Northside Wizards, over eight huge days from April 8 to 16, with every single match live streamed.

That’s 119 games over four courts at South Pine and Zillmere.

And it all began on Saturday night with a massive Origin-style boys showdown between Queensland South and NSW Metro.

The star-studded Queensland South men’s team featured 220cm Rocco Zikarsky and last year’s Schools Championships sensation Roman Siulepa.

On the back of NSW (women) and Western Australia (men) taking the U20 titles, this event promises to be something special.

Queensland (North and South), NSW (Metro and Country), Victoria (Metro and Country), South Australia (Metro and Country) and Western Australia ((Metro and Country) will field two teams in both the girls and boys competitions.

Games get underway at 9am on the final day of competition today.

Full replays will be available after each game, and News Corp’s team of sports reporters will be on the ground covering the biggest moments across the week.

The Kevin Coombs Cup will be played in conjunction with the nationals and features the country’s best junior wheelchair basketball athletes from Queensland, Western Australia, NSW, Victoria and South Australia.

The first games of that competition started on Thursday, with the gold medal to be decided on Sunday.
