The Eagles were decimated last weekend against Dodges Ferry and responded from an 86-point thumping to claim a 21-point victory to sit equal third.

Eagles coach Simon Harris said it is his side’s best win of the year.

“Truly proud of the boys today and how they responded from last week,” Harris said.

“The boys took ownership of during the week and to do that on a Tuesday night and to say to one another that isn’t where we want to be shows where we are at as a group.

“I think that was our best game this year, we have now set a benchmark of what we can play too and now we need to be consistent and stick at that.”

In a hotly contested game which involved a few spot fires in the first half, Sorell kicked away in the second quarter, booting 6.4 to just 1.3 to take a 31-point lead into half time.

The Two Blues responded after half time as plenty of push and shove continued throughout the remainder of the match.

“It’s funny, people talk about the rivalry between us and Dodges Ferry but this one with Lindisfarne is just as big,” Harris said.

“I like to go back through the stats and I think we haven’t beaten them here since 2008.

“So to do that today, to respond like we did, to play like we did, it is a true credit to the boys.

“I thought Perko (Jeremiah Perkins) and Brock (Daniels) had exceptional games, the whole team stood up this week.”

The win now puts Sorell equal with Lindisfarne and Dodges Ferry in third spot, with Huonville in second, two games clear of third and Cygnet still undefeated, two games clear of second.

Lauderdale import Logan Hovington was a star up forward for the Eagles, kicking three goals, including the sealer alongside Jacob Smith who also kicked three.

Lindisfarne’s Ed Stanley continues to show why he is arguably the best forward in the competition kicking nine with a few behinds to his name as well.

In the earlier women’s clash, it was Sorell that claimed a tight six-point victory – 5.4 (34) to 4.4 (28).

Lindisfarne v Sorell (Women) – 2025 SFL Round 10

PREVIEW

Sorell will be looking to make a huge statement when they clash with Lindisfarne on Saturday as they look to bounce back from an “embarrassing” loss last week.

The Eagles were completely decimated in their round nine clash with rivals Dodges Ferry and now will travel to Anzac Park to take on the third placed Two Blues.

The Lindisfarne v Sorell match will be available live and exclusive on KommunityTV from 2pm, with the women’s clash to kick off the action from 12pm.

Eagles’ midfielder Mitch Anderton said there was no excuse for last week.

“Very poorly of us the way we went about it, sort of rolled over way too easy and the effort from us just wasn’t good enough,” Anderton said.

“Our accountability and defensive acts just weren’t there but we’ve gone over that and it is a game we just want to chuck behind us and look forward to this week.

“We did have a few late outs from that morning, we had our big ruckman out which hurt us, that’s not an excuse at all, just a lack of effort from the boys.

“We have just regrouped at training and getting back to basics and doing them well, they (Lindisfarne) are a very good outfit especially at home.

“They are real good in all aspects of the ground, but their midfield causes a bit of chaos and you’ve got Ed Stanley up forward and he’s quite influential.”

Lindisfarne on the other hand are coming off a massive win against cellar dwellers Claremont, keeping the Magpies to their lowest score since round 2.

The win pushed the Two Blues into third spot with the Sharks knocking off the Eagles.

Lindisfarne’s Aiden Webster said his side won’t be reading too much into the massive win last week.

“Having the bye then playing a team that is a bit lower is probably not ideal heading into this week but bodies are fresh so can’t complain,” Webster said.

“Massive game, there is a lot riding on and I am really keen to get out there.

“They have recruited well and all over the ground they have got talent, they’ve seemed to have gelled well as a young group and you can see that on the park.

“I reckon they will definitely bounce back and will come out of the gates ready to go this week.

“But we will be ready as well so we won’t read too much into it.”

The two sides met in round three this season at Pembroke with Sorell taking a two point victory as the Eagles started the season with three wins on the trot.
