The resurgent Swans have found their form over the past two seasons, are in finals contention in 2022, and their exciting style of play appears to have rubbed off on the players of the future.
Travis Irwin, the NSW primary school sport association convener and women’s coach said it was a proud connection with the top-four side.
“We’ve got really strong links to the Swans and benefited from spending time with them and it’s been really positive,” he said.
With Swans players like Isaac Heeney and Nick Blakey passing on wisdom onto the young players, the coach was brimming with confidence.
“We are looking forward to them having a really good carnival,” he said.
“The network of the Swans has spread far and wide and the kids have benefited.”
Historically NSW has been competitive against the likes of Queensland and Western Australia but more traditional AFL states like Victoria and South Australia have proven “a real challenge for our kids”.
But with this new injection of confidence from the Swans, the two NSW sides will be determined to make a massive splash in this year’s championships.
