The Ranges girls are coming for the crown.

That was the message out of Launceston on Saturday as the Eastern Ranges improved its unbeaten record with a demolition of Tasmania.

Both girls sides enterred the Round 5 clash undefeated on top of the Coates League ladder, but it was far from the tight thriller that was predicted.

The Ranges were impressive from the opening whistle, with their ball movement exceptional across the park at UTAS Stadium.

The Ranges completely outclassed their rivals in every facet in an epic 13.17 (95) to 3.2 (20) win.

The Devils boys side managed to exact some revenge for their women’s counterparts, running away with a 11.15 (81) to 9.8 (62) victory.

Liam Ling showed his versatility for the Devils, starting in the forward pocket before spending time moving through the midfield, exploiting his pace against a tiring Ranges outfit.

PREVIEW: Devils, Ranges clash at the top of the table

It’s hard not to get excited about the Tasmania Devils and Eastern Ranges Coates Talent League doubleheader this weekend.

And while the boys clash is set to showcase some excellent talent, it’s the girls, with both sides unbeaten, who could steal the limelight.

Both matches, starting with the girls, will be LIVE STREAMED by Kommunity TV at UTAS Stadium in Launceston from 11am on Saturday. See the schedule below.

The Devils and Ranges girls teams are both undefeated to start the season, with the Tassie team currently sitting on top of the ladder.

But this weekend they’ll face their stiffest test yet and will be without Georgia Clark.

Clark, who is expected to be picked up in the AFLW draft, has been ruled out through concussion, but Devils coach Jodie Clifford is confident the rest of the forward line can step up.

Fellow key forwards Bellah Parker and Grace White will now have the challenge of filling the void.

Meanwhile, Maggie Chen will come back into the side to replace Clarke, and will play a small forward role.

“It’s one we’re really looking forward to and gives our girls a chance to play against the best,” Clifford said.

“Georgia, being out, will change the dynamic in the forward line and the girls will have to adapt, but I think we’ll be OK.

“Georgia has been in the team for a long time, it gives other people an opportunity, so we don’t rely on her to be the leading forward all the time.

“We’re going to have to do some work around the stoppages and put a lot of work into our forward line to make sure they don’t collapse.”

At the other end, the Ranges possess an exciting forward of their own in the form of Alyssia Pisano.

Coming off a serious knee injury this season, Pisano has been in red hot form with 10 goals in two games.

Eastern talent manager Danny Ryan described her as a “really impressive player”.

“She played a couple of practice matches and quickly found her feet again,” he said.

“We’ve got really high hopes for her and we’re excited by watching her continued development.”

Despite coming into the game as favourites, the Devils are just focusing on continuing to jell as a side.

“I’ll take it, it’s great,” Clifford said of the 3-0 start.

“We knew we had the talent and the foundations there, but we’re really pleased with how the girls have come together.

“We’ve got three different regions and the way they’ve jelled and interacted, we had our first Melbourne trip last week, which was good to break the ice and spend some time together.

“That all helps and that will continue to help as we progress forward.”

RANGES BOYS SET TO PUT ON A SHOW

The boys clash, from 1.30pm, shapes as an early season special.

Both teams have started the year in good form and have match winners across the park.

One of those is Eastern Ranges gun Nick Watson, who many believe could go as high as the top-five in this year’s AFL Draft.

Watson has made a brilliant start to the season regularly racking up big numbers and also hitting the scoreboard.

“He’s a very good player and someone we’re trying in different roles,” Ryan said.

“As a forward, he usually prefers to play closer to go but we’ve been pushing him up the ground more.

“He’s even spent time across halfback and he’s really enjoying that challenge at the moment.”

Emerging key defender Cooper Trembath also looms as a key player for the visitors this weekend.

Previously a ruck-forward, Trembath has made great strides in the early part of the season.

“He’s played on some really talented talls and done a fantastic job,” Ryan said.
