A new women’s champion is set to be crowned at the 2025 AFL NSW/ACT Senior School Cup Final, while defending boys champions Xavier College are back to defend their crown.

The culmination of a pathways competition for year 10-12 boys and girls from across NSW and the ACT, the ten-team state finals series will be broadcast live and exclusive on KommunityTV on Wednesday June 25.

With 2024 girls champions Erindale College not qualifying for the final, St Catherine’s College, St Francis de Sales Regional College, Xavier Catholic College, Kildare Catholic College and Daramalen College will battle it out to crown a new premier.

In the boys, it will be Xavier Catholic College against Kildare Catholic College, St Francis de Sales Regional College, St Augustine’s and Erindale College.

The winner of the boys will go onto face the winner of the AFL Sydney Boys Independent Schools Competition in the state final match in September.

In the girls competition, the winner will be named state final champions.

All schools involved in the state final have qualified via local and regional gala days, with the winner of the state final determined by the highest placed school after four matches.

Chloe Davis, the AFL Schools Competition Manager for Greater Sydney, said the competition was a vital part of continuing to grow the game in the NSW and ACT regions.

“Schools work hard throughout the year to build their programs and are excited to compete at the highest level and represent their school and region,” Davis said.

“It is a great opportunity for schools in southern NSW and the ACT to compete against each other, and integrating Sydney competitors will be a great test and opportunity for all schools to showcase their efforts, skills and talents.

“High school competition pathways are very important to continuing to build the game of Aussie rules in NSW and ACT. By providing an opportunity for schools from different regions to compete against each other, there is a pathway for talented players to showcase their skills.

“The competition also recognises the hard work of teachers and schools that are integral to the success of school footy across the state and territory.”
