WYONG INSIDE MAIL

RACE 1: PROVINCIAL 4YO&UP MAIDEN PLATE (1000m)

Captain Eagle was a little green on debut when a half-length second at Kembla before a fourth at Hawkesbury and an eighth at Newcastle. Resumes from a long break with several gear changes and a change of stable. Trialling well. Maximum Ride was just behind the placegetters his two runs on heavy ground last campaign. Resumes here. Cante Libre is improving with each run. Handy third to Veravino at Hawkesbury last start.

Bet: Captain Eagle to win.

RACE 2: MIDWAY 2&3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000m)

Oakfield Jupiter is a debutant by Toronado. Has been terrific winning all three barrier trials the latest from Emery on the Beaumont on March 5 after racing outside the leader. Lady Pankhurst pulled up with mild heat stress when sixth to Tempted in the Reisling Stakes at Randwick on debut. Had trialled very well and is a genuine improver. Perle De had solid form before her last start ninth in the Reisling.

Bet: Oakfield Jupiter to win.

RACE 3: SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1200m)

Reducio battled away for fourth behind Dance To The Boom on debut at Kembla last August before returning when a head second to Juste Un Clou. Resumes here off a couple of handy trials. Catonahotinroof resumed for a new stable with a handy third behind Olufsen over 1100m here two weeks ago. Will take improvement from the run. Blackwind has place claims on his close second to Hippolyte Rock at Newcastle.

Bet: Reducio to win.

RACE 4: BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (2100m)

Our Uptown Girl has found career-best form this preparation with two wins from her last three starts. Fought hard to beat Leaders Listen at Newcastle and ran down Jayashree at Hawkesbury. Alpine Kandy followed a first-up second at Dubbo with a nice win from Buba at Scone. Gets in well with the claim. Koning was wide early before settling outside the leader when runner-up to Webejamin at Newcastle last start.

Bet: Our Uptown Girl to win.

RACE 5: MAIDEN PLATE (1600m)

Elegant Artist is knocking on the door for her maiden win. Was fourth at Canterbury first-up before a half-length second to Willie Oppa and a neck third to Markdel both at Hawkesbury. Gets her chance. Tempranillo debuted on the Kensington when finishing fifth behind Meridiana and was only a neck off third. Will be better for the experience and should appreciate the step up to 1600m. Khant Fail will strip fitter for her first-up third at Kembla after a long lay-off.

Bet: Elegant Artist to win.

RACE 6: F&M BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1200m)

Miss Spacegirl was a little easy when resuming at Gosford on Mar 15 where she settled last and tracked the eventual winner, Mamushka, through to finish just over a half-length away in second. Meets her 2kg better and can turn the tables. Won her maiden on soft ground. Mamushka is looking to make it a hat-trick to start her career after a maiden win at Goulburn before her Gosford victory. Russian Snitzel was just pipped by Useapin after leading at Gosford last start.

Bet: Miss Spacegirl each-way.

RACE 7: PROVINCIAL-MIDWAY CHAMPIONSHIPS WILDCARD (1350m)

Magnatear went back-to-back in Midways before a sixth to the swooping Rapt in the Hawkesbury Prov-Midway Qualifier. Raced wide without cover when third to Zouatica in the National Sprint at Canberra. Goes well on the soft, just doesn’t want it heavy. Colours Of Autumn resumed with a fourth in the Hawkesbury Qualifier on Mar 8. Is a second-up winner. Spangler will love it if the track is heavy. Forgive his Hawkesbury Qualifier run behind Mahogany Girl when very wide throughout and checked in the straight.

Bet: Magnatear to win.

RACE 8: CG&E BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1200m)

Metallic Ruler was $3.90 in $3 second fav when resuming in a BM72 over 1000m at Warwick Farm on Mar 5 but failed to get into the race and beat one home behind Wondereach. Drop in grade and step up to 1200m suits. Is a second-up winner. Gone To Cape York was backed into an odds-on fav on debut at Nowra where he sat outside the leader before wearing down Pombia to score. Drawn well and the hardest to beat. Gandalf also landed good bets to win at Hawkesbury on debut.

Bet: Metallic Ruler each-way.

RACE 9: BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1000m)

Ride The River was ridden along throughout over the 900m at Newcastle last start but tried hard to the line when a head second to Insist. Is a winner on the soft and placed on the heavy. Silencio Perfavor was very disappointing when last as favourite behind Misty Legend when resuming at Warwick Farm. Won both runs last prep and can bounce back. Glorioso has placed in all three first-up runs and won’t be far away again.

Bet: Ride The River to win.
