CAULFIELD
BRAD WATERS (Racenet)
BELLE OF THE BALL (Race 6, No.9 - $5)
Speedy Sydney filly that was simply too quick for her rivals at The Valley. She’s up in class but she’s going to be hard to run down with only 51kg on her back.
Value bet: CROSSHAVEN (Race 4, No.1 – $26)
STEPHEN BRASSEL (National Racing Editor)
BERKELEY SQUARE (Race 8, No.2 – $5.50)
Impressive last start and improving every time he goes to the races. Should race closer from a good gate and he’s the one they have to beat.
BEST VALUE: FRANKIE PINOT (Race 4, No.2 – $19)
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (Racing News Editor)
OLD FLAME (Race 2, No.2 – $2.80)
Finished ahead of Epsom co-winner Ellsberg last start when runner-up to Surf Dancer. Has a great record over 1400m, maps well from barrier four and has Jamie Kah on board.
Value bet: BERKELEY SQUARE (Race 8, No.2 – $5.50)
GLENN McFARLANE (Herald Sun)
I WISH I WIN (Race 9, No.5 – $2.60)
Has won his two Aussie starts in devastating fashion and the wide draw shouldn’t hurt too much
Value bet: SWEETENED (Race 3, No.16 – $11)
SIMON MOY (NewsRacing)
ZAPATEO (Race 10, No.3 – $2.50)
Long wait to be worth it and only needs to repeat last-start performance to be winning this.
Value bet: TIJUANA Race 8, No.1 – $8)
NICOLE THOMAS (TAB)
PAULELE (Race 6, No.1 – $2.70)
Finished strongly at The Valley when resuming in the Moir Stakes last start and will appreciate that extra 100m.
Value bet: PERSAN (Race 5, No.2 – $7.50)
ROYAL RANDWICK
JETT HATTON (Racenet)
HERESY (Race 5, No.3 – $6)
Heresy looks very hard to beat second-up. Liked her work through the line when finishing fourth to Remarque, she now rises in trip and takes on her own sex. She won on Doncaster day on a very heavy track, beating Zapateo that day, and it’s worth noting her last second-up run was a tight fourth to Hinged at Group 1 level.
Value bet: SELOUS (Race 4, No.8 – $11)
ADAM SHERRY (Sportsman)
ZOU TIGER (Race 6, No.1 – $2.30)
Turned in a gutsy effort at big odds to finish third behind Jacquinot and In Secret in the Group 1 Golden Rose after leading. Placed in both runs on heavy ground including a second to top filly Zougotcha.
Value bet: LOCH EAGLE (Race 8, No.9 – $11)
EAGLE FARM
TRENTON AKERS (Courier Mail)
DEER TRIAL (R5, No.10 – $4)
Only comes out of midweek maiden grade but won in a manner to suggest he will be capable of going on to bigger and better things. Looks well placed against his own age group here.
Value bet: HAMLET VON SNITZEL (R9, No.6 – $11)
