Race 4 No. 13: Setombe

The James Cummings-trained filly was very good winning on the heavy at Hawkesbury before a close second here last start.

NEXT BEST

Race 5 No. 8: Elsie May

Things didn’t go right for her here two runs ago but she bounced back with a good win last start. Two from two on the heavy.

VALUE BET

Race 7 No. 14: Estadio Mestalla

Closed off well to finish fourth at both runs back from a spell over 1200m and 1300m. Will appreciate the extra trip.

INSIDE MAIL – WARWICK FARM

RACE 1

Winning Proposal debuted with a nice win at Newcastle on Jan 27 before a game fourth to Fully lit in the Inglis Millennium at Randwick. She will take benefit from her second behind The Escape when resuming on a heavy track at Wyong on June 6. Sister Daae is a first starter by Zoustar and a direct descendant of Denise’s Joy. Has trialled nicely including a second to Simply Just at Rosehill on May 24. Deep Joy has strong claims.

Bet: Winning Proposal each-way

RACE 2

Tarpaulin was held-up until the 300m when fourth behind odds-on fab Straight Charge at Randwick on Dec 23 at his only start. Resuming from a spell and trials have been very good. Buckingham Palace sat outside Madrina and boxed on well to finish second on debut at Randwick on June 8. Will take improvement from the experience and can go one better here. Scorching Legend was well-backed on debut when fourth to Braveheart on June 12. Keep safe.

Bet: Tarpaulin to win

RACE 3

Gram came from last when third to Erno’s Cube in the Max Lees at Newcastle on debut on Nov 18. Closed stylishly under a hold to win his Rosehill trial on heavy ground on June 11. Detendu placed runner-up in his first three starts. Resumed his prep with a third to Braveheart under 61kg on a heavy track on the Kensington two weeks ago. Love And Light was good when runner-up in her first two starts. Returns from a spell and has won both recent trials.

Bet: Gram to win

RACE 4

Setombe kicked off her campaign with a fast-finishing win over Cryptonic on a heavy track at Hawkesbury on May 14 before just going down behind One Destiny over 1100m here on June 5. Will appreciate the step up to 1300m. Stablemate How Dare You was well-backed when a first-up winner at Scone before jumping in grade when seventh to Captain Furai at Rosehill on June 15. Emmadella is coming off two second placings and won be far away again.

Bet: Setombe to win

RACE 5

Elsie May went back from a wide gate and didn’t have a lot of luck in the straight when a closing either to Able Willie first-up here on May 22. Bounced back with a good win at Canterbury on June 10. Big chance again. Danish Prince was nosed out by Time Quest here two starts back before a half-length third to the smart Franz Josef at Rosehill. The one to beat. Destiny’s Delight drops in grade from her latest run at Randwick behind Bright Red.

Bet: Elsie May to win

RACE 6

Kerguelen went into his debut with big wraps off some smart trials and didn’t disappoint with a near 10 length win on heavy ground at Kembla on May 18. Kept under a good hold in his recent Rosehill heat. Chautauqua’s half-brother, Need Some Luck, raced back and wide when ninth to Elson Boy at Scone first-up before bouncing back with a good win from Accredited at Canterbury last start. Accredited has drawn out but is very consistent and will make his presence felt.

Bet: Kerguelen to win

RACE 7

Estadio Mestalla came from last at the top of the straight when fourth to Semillion in the Listed Takeover Target at Newcastle first-up on May 11. Was again doing his best work late when fourth to Excelladus over 1300m at Randwick on June 8. Will appreciate the 1400m. Tamerlane didn’t run to his best when resuming with a ninth behind Coastwatch in the Listed Luskin Star over 1300m at Scone on May 18. He has since led all-the-way in a Rosehill trial on June 11 under a hold. Excelladus and Diamond Diesel have claims.

Bet: Estadio Mestalla each-way

RACE 8

Pisanello was held up in the straight before unleashing a barnstorming run late to win a Class 1 at Scone on May 17 before racing very wide throughout when fourth to Cigar Flick at Rosehill. Can bounce back here. Dipsy Doodle showed she is ready to kick off her campaign with two good trials. Was just nosed out in stakes grade last season. Rebel Dean was a handy second to Art Volant first-up and has place claims again.

Bet: Pisanello to win
