The ownership team behind The Everest favourite I Wish I Win are convinced he’s never looked better as the sprint weapon edged closer to a spring return on Tuesday.
Waikato Stud’s Mark Chittick was an eager observer from across the Tasman as the Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman-trained star was put through his paces at Pakenham jumpouts.
I Wish I Win was kept under a tight hold by jockey Luke Nolen before winning his 800m heat comfortably.

The son of Savabeel has only been back in Moody and Coleman’s stable for a matter of weeks after a successful Brisbane winter carnival campaign that culminated with victory in the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup.
“I got some photos through on Saturday and I said to ‘Moods’, I don’t think this horse has ever looked better,” Chittick, who races I Wish I Win with Moody, said.
“Since and including the Kingsford Smith, everything has gone according to plan and couldn’t be better.
“He had his time up spelling in Queensland and had his pre-training up there.
“He only came down recently. He had that jump out this morning and we are very happy with him.”

I Wish I Win is the clear $4.50 TAB favourite for The Everest with Bella Nipotina and Giga Kick at $9 and Private Eye an $11 chance.
Giga Kick and Private Eye will both trial in Sydney on Friday.
I Wish I Win will attempt to go one better in this year’s The Everest after running a close second to Think About It at his first attempt in 2023.
The gelding was officially locked in for the race late last month and is just the second confirmed runner along with former West Australian boom sprinter Bustling.
I Wish I Win will run in Trackside Media’s slot for the second consecutive year.
The plan is to give I Wish I Win a pair of Everest lead-up runs with both expected to be at Group 1 level in Victoria.
A date with the Moir Stakes (1000m) at The Valley on September 7 is set to be the first of those before the Manikato Stakes (1200) on September 27.
He wasn’t the only of Moody and Coleman’s The Everest hopefuls to line up at the jumpouts with TJ Smith Stakes victor Chain Of Lightning also winning an 800m heat on the morning.
Chain Of Lightning now races in the green and white silks of Yulong after being purchased for $2.5 million in May.
Yulong has its own The Everest slot which is yet to be filled.
