WAGGA INSIDE MAIL

RACE 4: CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1200m)

Captain Nay settled last on the fence and had to come across heels after straightening to get to the outside before running on well late for fifth to Master Of Disguise on the Wagga Riverside track on Dec 24. Drawn to settle closer and can give this a shake. He’s My Warrior was spotting Master Of Disguise over four lengths at the 200m when he got clear and pulled the margin back to less than three lengths when second in that same race. Our Boy Beau was a length second at Wangaratta first-up. Is a second-up winner.

Bet: Captain Nay each-way

RACE 5: BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP – HEAT OF THE RISING STAR (1600m)

Warpainted was slow away and was doing his best work late when sixth to Elastane Miss over 1000m on debut on a heavy track at Albury. Came from last again with a big finish down the outside to score over 1400m at Corowa. Should love the step up to 1600m. Soul Taker was on the heels of the placegetters before a third to Two Aye in a Class 1 at Canberra. Drawn to get a nice run. Artist followed a second at Cooma with an all-the-way win at Queanbeyan.

Bet: Warpainted each-way

RACE 6: MAIDEN HANDICAP (1400m)

Shine Like It Does had to wait a few strides in the straight to get to the outside before closing off well for third to Xcessive Force first-up at Goulburn. Hot Toddy was good in his first two runs this campaign before failing at his next two on a short back-up and ridden on speed. Came from a long way back when third at Benalla last start. Will be charging home. Over To Win was just behind the placegetters in his first two starts before a second to Maracabo Sun at Canberra. Drawn well and gets a 2kg claim.

Bet: Shine Like It Does to win

RACE 7: F&M CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1200m)

Luna Jet sat last in the field of four before storming home last to run past the odd-on favourite Ischyros and score a length-and-a-half on debut at Nowra on Dec 31. Drawn wide but hard to go past. Divron was rewarded for his handy form with a good win from Miss Fennell in a Super Maiden on the Riverside track. Drawn well and rates highly again. Pushalot is knocking on the door for another win. Close second to Getty at the Sapphire Coast before a long neck third to Oneforian at Queanbeyan.

Bet: Luna Jet to win

BALLINA TIPS

BEST BET

Race 3 No.1: Pleadeel

Winner at Doomben two starts back. Drops down a couple of grades and gets a claim.

NEXT BEST

Race 1 No.3: Pal’s Reign

Nice effort to win his maiden last start and can go back-to-back.

BALLINA INSIDE MAIL

RACE 4: CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1265m)

Flame Tree Star was a little plain when third to Sea Of Qi as an odds-on fav at Murwillumbah last start but she was held up on the fence around the bend. Close second to Neil at the same track first-up. Gets her chance here. Isaynonono ended her first campaign with a win at Seymour in July. Resumes for an astute stable and has trialled well. Picupstixx resumed from a spell with a handy second behind Cardsharp at Coffs Harbour early last week. Drawn well and won’t be far away.

Bet: Flame Tree Star to win

RACE 5: BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1015m)

Cosmic Fortune ended last campaign with back-to-back second placings at Grafton. Kicked off this with a with a last to first run along the rails here on Dec 10 from Sea Of Qi who franked the form by winning next start. Races well on his home track. Bonavee had handy form before dropping back to non-Tab meetings at Casino and Murwillumbah where she got two confidence boosting wins. Stepped up in grade and brought up the hat-trick with an all-the-way win here on Nov 28. Will give a sold sight from the inside gate. Boom Master must be kept safe.

Bet: Cosmic Fortune each-way

RACE 6: BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1605m)

Serenade The Cat lost her chance when she reared at the start and settled a clear last before beating two home first-up. Away well and settled fourth when a winner at Lismore over 1526m. Strong chance again. Mychyna has been freshened since a tough run when wide without cover here on Dec 10. Close second after leading the start prior. Neoclassicism has placed his past two and won’t be far away again.

Bet: Serenade The Cat to win

RACE 7: MAIDEN HANDICAP (1265m)

Rainbow Lass was held up in the straight before ducking back to the rails inside the final 200m when third to Ferry Road over 1110m at Lismore first-up. Will be better for the run and should appreciate the step up in trip. Bean Ball boxed on for a handy second at Warwick first-up. Darling Take Care hasn’t been far away this campaign.

Bet: Rainbow Lass to win
