Racenet and Herald Sun racing writer Gilbert Gardiner analyses Monday’s nine-race card on the synthetic track at Pakenham.

BEST BET
PHAROAH’S DAUGHTER (R5 No.7 – $4.80)
Back in grade after being tested in town last start. The three-year-old filly, taking on the older horses on Monday, won with authority at Pakenham two starts back and could repeat the dose despite a wide draw.

NEXT BEST
PATRIOT STAR (R1 No.9 – $2.80)
Respect market support for the first starter from the astute Matt Laurie yard. Has jumped out well ahead of her debut and should be in the finish.

VALUE BET
POWERBOUND (R8 No.8 – $11)
Better for first-up run at Ballarat and the winner, Lady Dumont, has won again since. Powerbound has placed second-up previously. Drawn to get economical run.

THE JOCKEY – JAMIE MOTT
THE SHOWVINIST (R1 No.7 – $2.60), SAKASU (R2 No.6 – $41), LAKE VOSTOK (R3 No.7 – $8), CHA CHA CHANGES (R4 No.5 – $1.80), THE REAL THING (R6 No.5 – $5), GIFT OF ORATORY (R7 No.7 – $4.20) and OVER BOOST (R8 No.2 – $9.50).
