Herald Sun form analyst Gilbert Gardiner runs a rule over the Thursday twilight meeting at Caulfield.
BEST BET
ARIA ELECTRA (R5 No.9 – $3.90)
Good thing licked last start at The Valley when stuck behind horses and only got mobile the last 80m. Pinged late but missed the bob. Won second-up at Sale then runner-up the past three starts.
NEXT BEST
KIKO (R1 No.6 – $6)
Respect the favourite, first-starter Unconquerable, but the Group 3-placed Kiko could be a threat. A 10-start maiden admittedly but placed five times and jumped out very well at Mornington (twice) and Sandown recently.
SO GLAMOROUS (R3 No.4 – $2.80)
Won nicely on debut at Ballarat then found one better last start at The Valley, a length behind Milliondollarmumma. Drawn well and suited by rise to 1400m.
VALUE BET
CALL THE UNION (R7 No.11 – $11)
Strong winner at Sandown last start, defeated Tapo Capall by two lengths over 1600m, and despite a rise in weight – up two kilograms – should be in the finish again.
THE JOCKEY
UNCONQUERABLE (R1 No.10 – $2.10), CORTAIN (R2 No.2 – $10), HELMITON (R4 No.5 – $7.50), ARIA ELECTRA (N5 No.9 – $3.90), WAR FRONTIER (R6 No.3 – $7), STARIANNE (R7 No.6 – $4.80) and ZABEELIST (R8 No.12 – $4.20)
