New Zealand mare Positivity snared a ticket into the Group 1 Caulfield Cup with a tenacious victory in the Group 3 MRC Foundation Cup on Saturday.

Positivity, runner-up in the Group 1 NZ Oaks early in the year, stalked the speed and fended off a wall of horses late to get the money for trainer Andrew Forsman.

Melbourne Cup-entered Future History travelled outside the leader and stuck on for second from Gear Up and Saint George.

A head separated the first four past the post.

Forsman stable representative Chloe Cumming deferred to the boss for any Caulfield Cup declarations.

“Honestly, have to get her home, see how she pulls up and talk to Andrew and see what he wants to do with it,” Cumming said.

“That’s a pretty incredible feeling. She’s been super in her work coming into this and she looks amazing, and so to see her get it on the line is pretty incredible.”

Positivity, now a three-time Group 3 winner including two in New Zealand, placed second in the Listed Heatherlie Stakes first-up at Caulfield.

“She came over and she’s just sort of been thriving since she’s been over here … she’s been loving it, so it’s been really good,” Cumming said.

Jockey Harry Coffey rated the winner to perfection.

“Awesome for this horse to run some consistent races and get rewarded today,” Coffey said.

“Andrew and his team travelling horses over to Australia, it can be tough, but they show time and time again they can do it and nice for the team to get some rewards.

“I’ve had a little bit of luck for Andrew now so it’s good to keep paying the faith.”

Coffey endorsed Positivity’s Caulfield Cup claims.

“All you can do is win, that’s two really consistent runs in a row so I suppose she’s going to get in with no weight,” Coffey said.

“I might have to get on the brown rice diet to ride here but all you can do is win and that’s what she’s doing so she’s going the right way.”

Positivity is $34 with Ladbrokes in the all-in market for the Caulfield Cup.
