Stewards have opened an inquiry into star jockey Jamie Kah’s tactics in the straight during the Group 3 McNeil Stakes at Caulfield.

Kah finished fifth aboard the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr-trained Let’sfacethemusic in the $200,000 McNeil Stakes after being blocked for a run at times in the straight.

Let’sfacethemusic finished 4½ lengths behind the dominant winner Growing Empire.

Stewards questioned Kah soon after the race along with Let’sfacethemusic’s co-trainer Mick Price.

The matter was subsequently adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Kah went on to steer the last favourite Another Wil home for trainer Ciaron Maher.

Meanwhile, stewards ordered the withdrawal of a runner from the Cockram Stakes despite a vet clearing the mare to race.

Skybird was backed out of the stalls for a vets’ inspection before she was passed fit to run.

However, stewards viewed vision of Skybird rearing in the barriers and sitting down in the stalls, which the vet may not have seen, before scratching the Mitchell Freedman-trained mare.
