Final field for the 2024 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield

A field of 16, plus two emergencies, have accepted for Saturday’s Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield. Most of the favourites have drawn well.

Trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott will look to continue their dominance in the two-year-old ranks in Saturday’s $2 million Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.

The stable has accepted with impressive first-up winner Lady Of Camelot and Adam Hyeronimus will make the trip down to ride.

Peter and Paul Snowden have three in the race with High Octane, Bodyguard and Fearless among the acceptors.

The Matt Laurie stable and newly engaged jockey Ben Melham are extremely confident with their star colt Coleman who galloped at Caulfield on Tuesday morning.

“When (Melham) came in just then he said he’ll be winning, hopefully he’s right,” Laurie said.

“I didn’t clock it, but visually it looked like a lovely piece of work. I’m really excited about the weekend.”

The slick work, less than a fortnight after Coleman overcame a hoof abscess, pleased Laurie no end.

“Today just tops him off nicely, his action looked great,” Laurie said.

The barrier draw will take place at 12.15pm (AEDT) Tuesday.
