The fields for the supporting races on Moir Stakes Day at The Valley have been finalised and three of the greats of the modern era will be celebrated on Saturday.
The acceptances for the $750,000 Group 1 weight-for-age feature over 1000 metres were declared on Tuesday while the nine remaining races were released 24 hours later.
Three Listed races are the main support acts while the Moonee Valley Racing Club will host the first renewal of the So You Think Stakes, a $200,000 open handicap over 2000m celebrating the career of one of the greatest dual Cox Plate winners.
The So You Think has drawn together a solid field of 13 with smart proven performers Attrition, Pericles, Immediacy, Munhamek, Buffalo River, Muramasa and Pounding among the acceptors.
Unfortunately, small fields are the order of the day for the three Listed races with seven runners declared in the Chautauqua Stakes (1200m), a field of nine make up the Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m) and there’s also nine in the McKenzie Stakes (1200m).
Caulfield Guineas hopeful Epimeles is set to resume in the McKenzie Stakes where he’ll take on the likes of Group 1 placegetters Bosustow and Red Sea as well as Stakes winner Althoff.
Kiwi Group 1 winner Desert Lightning is on debut for Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman in the Chautauqua Stakes, taking on Regal Roller winner and runner-up, Arkansaw Kid and Who Dares.

The Valley track was rated a good (4) at acceptance time. The rail will be in the true position on Saturday.
Saturday’s 10-race program commences at 12.10pm with the final event to be run at 5.25pm.
