It’sourtime bookended a century of Australian winners for trainer Danny O’Brien this season with victory in the Listed Santa Ana Lane Sprint Series Final (1200m) at Flemington.

It’sourtime, runner-up in the race last year, went one better on Saturday, the gelding’s fourth success from 17 starts at Headquarters.

It’sourtime opened O’Brien account for the 2023-24 season on August 5 with victory in the Group 3 Aurie’s Star.

“It’s a fantastic result, it’s our 100th winner of the season and he was actually our first winner of the season as well, great result,” assistant trainer Ellie Morrison said.

“We know he loves Flemington and we thought we’d put the blinkers back on over this trip and seemed to work nicely.”

O’Brien’s haul for the season include 94 Victorian winners, including 25 on the metropolitan circuit.

It’sourtime paid $19 with TAB and finished ahead of Crosshaven and Who Dares.

The Astrologist rounded out the top four.

Jockey Damian Lane sealed a Flemington double with the comfortable win.

“I settled in a lovely spot and with blinkers on he was really switched on today,” Lane said.

“Just got into the race really well and if anything, I thought, I’m here really early but loves his track.

“I was always confident, with the pace on I was really confident where I was, you don’t often get that in straight races … he was on the job.

“I was confident he was going to run well a long way out.”

Favourite Press Down weakened out of contention and finished towards the tail of the field.

Jockey Neil Farley told stewards the horse might have come to the end of his preparation.

Another treble for Brown

Jockey Ethan Brown claimed riding honours at Flemington on Saturday with a sixth-career metropolitan treble.

Brown, who banked a Sandown treble last month, saluted aboard Berkshire Breeze, Jenni’s Meadow and Steel Run.

Hopes of a personal best four-timer were dashed in the last race on the card with exciting Pharari a beaten favourite in the Listed Creswick Sprint Series Final (1200m).

Brown said Pharari would benefit from the first experience down the Flemington straight.

The 25-year-old enjoyed the early treble at Flemington, especially after cutting weight to ride Berkshire Breeze at 54.5kg.

“It makes the hard work worthwhile,” Brown said.

“It’s certainly not something I do week in week out but I had a handful of good rides today and thought I’d make the extra effort and it’s paid dividends.”

Brown last rode 54.5kg more than 12 months ago.

Jockey Jye McNeil finished with a Flemington double with victory on Right To Party in the Creswick Sprint Series Final.

Right To Party sealed a three-state treble for Anthony and Sam Freedman after Punch Lane and Rhapsody Chic won at Randwick and Sunshine Coast respectively.

McNeil won the Silver Bowl Series Final earlier on the card aboard Justadeel.

Melbourne jockey’s premiership leader Damian Lane also rode two winners at Flemington.

Trainers shared the spoils at Flemington with nine individual winners on Saturday.
