Caulfield Cup contenders Without A Fight and Nonconformist to be reinspected by Racing Victoria vets on Friday

Vets will reinspect two Caulfield Cup contenders on Friday before they can be given the all clear to race.

Caulfield Cup contender Without A Fight must be re-examined by Racing Victoria vets on Friday after being presented with lameness in the left front leg.

RV vets inspected the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained galloper on Thursday as part of pre-Caulfield Cup examinations of all runners.

Without A Fight finished sixth in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) first-up behind Alligator Blood, beaten 2¼ lengths.

The six-year-old gelding stretched the legs in a quiet track gallop at Mornington earlier in the week.

The Grahame Begg-trained Nonconformist, runner-up in the 2021 Caulfield Cup, was lame in the right hind and will also be reinspected on Friday.

Vets assessed fourteen of the 18 Caulfield Cup starters and the first emergency United Nations on Thursday, with the four internationals Breakup, West Wind Blows, Okita Soushi and Valiant King to be inspected for the first time on Friday.

Without A Fight, one of the better-backed runners in the Caulfield Cup eased to $$7.50 on Thursday after the RV announcement.

The former international, set to be ridden by Cups-winning jockey Mark Zahra, has attracted 10 per cent of all Caulfield Cup wagers with TAB.

Nonconformist remained steady at $41 with the bookmaker.
