The Group 1-winning training partnership of Matt Hoysted and Steve O’Dea is being dissolved.
In the new racing season, Hoysted will train in his own right while O’Dea will quit training and focus on working in bloodstock.
The Queensland training team, who had their first runner in combination in April 2021, broke into the Group 1 club when sprinter Uncommon James scored the Oakleigh Plate at Sandown in 2023.

The training partnership also enjoyed stakes success in Melbourne with the likes of Scallopini and Shooting For Gold.
“I will be forever grateful for the opportunities that Steve gave me and things certainly haven’t ended sourly,” Hoysted said.
“It’s purely a case of Steve stepping away from training to focus more on the bloodstock side of things.
“He will remain active in the stable helping selecting yearlings.
“The Group 1 win with Uncommon James will always be a highlight.”
Hoysted will use 56 boxes at Eagle Farm and said it will be business as usual in the new training season which starts next month.
“Whereas it has been a partnership, the workload will fall solely on me but I am very confident that the right systems are in place,” Hoysted said.
Hoysted and O’Dea have sharp sprinter Party For Two racing as a $9 chance in the Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
