Shayno: Hello Mitchy. Civic Stakes the feature and it looks good for Strait Acer back from his Rockhampton mission. He’ll feel right at home here, literally – his record at the Randwick 1400m is small but select, as they say.

Mitch: G’day Shayno. I found this Civic Stakes card near impossible but the feature race itself was one of the easier ones. I’m with Felix Majestic ($21). Put a line through that first up run on an unsuitable wet track. He gets 1400m now and always runs well second up.

REVEALED: The secret behind Joe Pride’s success with tried horses

Shayno: For me, the most interesting horse in all day is the (hopefully) aptly-named Fortune. Long story short, he’s a Longchamp and Chantilly winner now with OTI and Annabel Neasham and has trialled like a bomb – twice.

Mitch: He’s a wait and see for me Shayno but if the money comes, you could be onto something. I’m giving Akasawa a chance. He flashed home behind Mayfair Spirit in the Gunnedah Cup last start carrying 65.5kg so the 59kg on Saturday should feel like a featherweight.

‘Hardest thing for any horse’: Les Bridge’s big fear at Randwick on Saturday

Shayno: Speaking of trials and bombs, you would expect Alicia Roma to be sharp on a trial but she was so impressive here the other day. First run back for the Snowdens and they’ve found the ideal race for her.

Mitch: I will go head-to-head with you there, Shayno. I’ve made Gitalong one of my best on the program. He put together a couple of strong performances last preparation and has trialled up well ahead of his return.

Shayno: Rodney Northam could quinella the Highway I reckon. If Fuld’s Doubt gets beaten, it will only be by her stablemate Syrian Star.

Mitch: You won’t find me betting in this week’s Highway Shayno. It’s a chook raffle. If I had to pick one, it’d be Ticklebelly. She’s one of the few chances that hasn’t drawn off the track.

Shayne O’Cass’s race-by-race tips and inside mail for Randwick on Saturday

Shayno: The Midway is most intriguing! Am I right in thinking the Four Pillars winner Kiss Sum is getting back to somewhere near his best Mitchy?

Mitch: You won’t find him in my numbers mate. November Falls is the one for me. She will go forward from a tricky gate and should prove hard to get past.

Shayno: My other highlight for its worth is Need Some Luck vs. Kerguelen. May the best horse win.

Mitch: That horse will be Kerguelen.
