Victorian raider that’s won two of his four starts this preparation. He should be very hard to beat again.

TRAINER TO FOLLOW
Annabel Neasham has 12 runners across the seven races and most of them are winning chances.

Race 1: 2yo Colts and Geldings Maiden Handicap (1250m)

HOUDINI SPIRIT (4) is an unraced son of Harry Angel that connections snapped up for $100,000 at Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. The promising colt has had two trials in preparation for his debut, winning his most recent effort over 800m by three lengths. Tipping he can produce a strong showing first up. RAILWAY MAN (8) is the $2.5 million son of I Am Invincible out of 2018 Oakleigh Plate winner Booker so he’s bred to be a star. He failed to fire in his only previous run in January but his trials this time have been decent enough. SHELSTEIN (8) should strip fitter from a tough first up run but will need luck.

Bet: Houdini Spirit to win.

Race 2: 2yo Fillies Maiden Handicap (1250m)

POISED (2) only just missed out on debut but can go one better here. The $400,000 yearling purchase led them up and was only run down late over 1100m over Declichy Boulevard at Warwick Farm. She will go forward again and take plenty of catching. CINSAULT (1) was third in the same event in her first up run from a break. Expect her to go back and be one of the strongest late. GOOD SORT (3) finished on Cinsault’s heels last time and will also strip fitter. She’s got the draw in her favour too.

Bet: Poised to win.

Race 3: 3yo Maiden Plate (1250m)

SUMMER SOIREE (8) is edging closer to her maiden victory with four placings in six starts. She fought on gamely last time when narrowly second to I Am Famous over 1300m at Warwick Farm. From a good draw here, she’s one of the chances again. SUMMER LOVING (7) failed to beat a runner home at her last start in the Group 1 Flight Stakes and has been given a long spell since. She has performed fresh before and her most recent trial was eye catching to say the least. FUGITIVA (3) has trialled up well too and can run a cheeky race at odds.

Bet: Summer Soiree to win, boxed trifecta 3, 7, 8.

Race 4: Maiden Plate (1550m)

LIKE LUKEY (8) is a lightly-raced filly by Denman that has finished third at each of her past two starts. She’s gone back to near last on both occasions before doing her best work late. The step up to 1550m looks ideal for her with Ben Osmond’s claim getting her in nicely with 55kg. CHEERGAL (5) is best of three Annabel Neasham contenders. She ran into the classy California Sunrise last time at Hawkesbury and should be close to peak fitness third up from a break with a good draw. LENAPE VIBE (4) was too bad to be true last time and a bounce back performance wouldn’t surprise.

Bet: Like Lukey each way.

Race 5: Benchmark 72 (1900m)

MONARCHS BRAE (6) has saved his bets in Australia for Canterbury’s 1900m. Both of the Irish bred galloper’s win in Sydney have come at the track and trip he faces on Wednesday. The Chris Waller-trained gelding gets to his favoured trip with a couple of fitness runs under the belt and is drawn to get every possible chance again. LOCO (1) has Group 1 form as a three-year-old and is working his way back to his peak after a year on the sidelines. Stepping up in trip is his third run back from a lengthy spell looks ideal for him. TURNED DOWN (9) is better than what he showed last time when he lost a near-hind plate in the run, having been much more competitive first up.

Bet: Monarchs Brae to win, quinella 1, 6.

Race 6: 4yo+ Benchmark 72 (1250m)

IRON MAN (8) looks ready to produce another bold first up showing. The Edward O’Rourke-trained gelding has finished second in all previous fresh showings and has trialled up like a horse that’s ready to run well again. He’s destined to make his presence felt from a perfect draw in barrier one. VALIANCY (9) and MOLLY NAILS (4) are among a long list of chances. They finished alongside each other in a midfield position last start but are early in their preparations and will be better for the runs. CHARTWELL (10) was a winner at this venue first up last preparation and should be included in wider multiples.

Bet: Iron Man to win.

Race 7: Benchmark 72 (1550m)

THE CREATOR (1) is a Victorian raider from the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr camp. The Kiwi-bred galloper has made a solid start to his career with four wins and two placings from 10 starts to date. He will find the soft conditions to his liking here and has trialled up well to keep him up to the mark after a six-week freshen-up. FAIRWAY STAR (8) was too far back in her last start at Flemington before making up steady ground. The step up to a mile third up looks ideal for her. THE LITTLE PUMPER (3) has been out of sorts this time in but gets the blinkers first time so an improved showing shouldn’t shock.

Bet: The Creator to win.

Placed at her past two, the filly finds a winnable race to break the maiden here. The step up to 1200m looks ideal.

VALUE BEST
Race 1 No.5 BODY OF VENUS
First up for a new yard. Her trial in the lead up indicates she will be well suited in country grade.

BEST EXOTIC
All Up – Race 3 No. 9 into Race 7 No. 3.
