The Everest meeting not included on King Charles and Queen Camilla’s five-day Australian tour

There is a window of opportunity for The King to attend The Everest meeting, which features a race named in his honour, despite it not being included in his Australian itinerary.

King Charles III could still attend The Everest meeting at Royal Randwick next month.

The King’s official itinerary for the five-day Australian tour in October has been released and it did not include The Everest meeting on October 19.

However, it is understood there is a window of opportunity in the scheduling for the ruling monarch to be trackside for the $20m The Everest (1200m) during the afternoon.

The race day also features the Group 1 $5m King Charles III Stakes (1600m).

The King, who is receiving ongoing treatment for cancer, will arrive in Sydney on the evening of October 18 with no events planned for the following day.

But depending on the King’s health, he might choose to add events to his schedule including The Everest on October 19.

This would understandably cause some difficult but not insurmountable logistical issues for Racing NSW and Australian Turf Club officials including security and crowd control.

King Charles has developed a growing passion for the thoroughbred since inheriting the racing and breeding interests of late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, after her passing two years ago.

The King regularly attends England’s famous Royal Ascot meeting and celebrated with a winner there last year with Desert Hero in the prestigious King George V Stakes.
