Colt Prosser will use the last meeting in his Mid-North Coast region before Christmas to take the wrapping off his imposing three-year-old colt Crashmyplaya who debuts in the Sky International Country Boosted Maiden Plate (1005m).

The Wauchope-housed bay left a lasting impression when he headed north to Tuncurry for a December 9 barrier trial where he finished an unhurried second of the five starters.

“He is a nice horse,” Prosser said.

“Looking at him, I think he might want a bit further. He is not a jump-and-run type horse and is probably going to need to get over a bit more ground but he is a beautiful striding horse - a big strong fella.

“He cut his leg as a yearling unfortunately but in the end, it might be the best thing for him, we put him away for a while and gave him some time.

“His half-brother has won his last couple in Hong Kong so I’m looking forward to getting this bloke to the races.

“Hopefully he will be a nice horse in the making.”

Crashmyplaya is a son of the Caulfield Guineas winner Divine Prophet who is also a half-brother to New Zealand’s Champion Sire, Proisir.

Prosser’s colt’s dam, Hateel, was unraced unlike her sister Pearl Star who won the SAJC Cinderella Stakes as a two-year-old with Michelle Payne in the saddle.

Crashmyplaya’s fourth dam is 1993 Reginald Allen winner Reign Of Honour whose visit to then Yarraman Park Stud resident in 1997 resulted in the VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Spectactorial.

Crashmyplaya will have company on the short hop from Wauchope to Taree from stablemate Low Profile.

The daughter of Group 1 winner and ‘Golden Slipper sire’ Rebel Dane boasts a compelling record of two starts at the Taree 1005m for a win and a second.

Both of them on slow going.

“I was praying it would rain for us at Taree for Sunday but it doesn’t look like it,” Prosser said. “All her best form is on the wet tracks.

“Up to (Benchmark) 58, she’ll get a little bit of weight allowance.”

Low Profile third dam is Widden’s Bletchingly mare, Bounteous, who foaled down two stakes-winners.

The first was Saleous, a daughter of then Widden resident Salieri, and won the Wakeful Stakes/VRC Oaks double in the spring of 1995 before returning in the 1996 autumn to add the STC Ansett Australia Stakes.

Four years after Saleous came Passmore, who beat the likes of Shogun Lodge and Commands in the 1999 STC Silver Slipper Stakes.

Low Profile still has plenty left to offer on the racetrack but would make a worthy partner for Prosser’s own stallion, Vilified, if he decides to head that way next spring.

Vilified is just about to conclude his second season at stud under Prosser’s watch.

A half-brother to Everest winner and Randwick 1200m course record holder Yes Yes Yes, Vilified is a son of the J J Atkins and Caulfield Guineas winner, Press Statement.

“We’ve just got one or two mares for him left to serve that will hopefully come in season and that’ll be him done for the year,” Prosser reported.

“I think he served 20 mares this year and he got all of them in foal except for one that is taking a bit of time to come in season after foaling late.”

INSIDE MAIL - TAREE

RACE 1

Open Pearly Gates has raced five times; she was a Dubbo Maiden winner together with two seconds, one third and a fourth at Scone in a pretty decent Benchmark 58 too as it happens. Trainer Lou Mary, as he always does, has found the perfect race for the son of Invader. Adam Duggan is the master of getting these ex-Hong Kong horses up and going again. He nearly pulled off a plunge ($2.70 into $2.20) when All Hunky Dory resumed at Tamworth. Mile ideal now. City Gold Ready was excellent at his Wayne Brown stable debut. Nice alley today.

Bet: Open Pearly Gates to win, exacta 3 to beat 6

RACE 2

Not My Problem is a filly by Tosen Stardom out of the Listed stakes-winner Yesterday. The Kris Lees-trained three-year-old had trialled quite well prior to her debut at Tamworth over 1200m when $6 out to $9.50. I suppose you could say she ‘ran accordingly’. That is to say, she would be better next time. Nikody’s Diego remains winless after 31 starts but he has placed seven times and is off two seconds coming into today. Just the wide draw makes it a bit harder than it might have been. Ditto most of that for Magic Shannon.

Bet: Not My Problem to win

RACE 3

Crashymyplaya is a Colt Prosser-trained three-year-old colt on debut. The horse is a son of Caulfield Guineas winner Divine Prophet. His pedigree suggests he will go to a mile and be good at it. Granted this is only 1005m but he is on debut and he looked good in his 1000m trial at Tuncurry. Speaking of Tuncurry, Joseph Burges brings Whiskers to the table. This Headwater filly has been most impressive in her two trials and in deep heats too. Launch Sequence has the race experience and this is his home ground.

Bet: Crashmyplaya each-way, box trifecta 3, 4, 5, 12

RACE 4

Monte Outlander is the exception to the rule when it comes to ‘greys in the wet’. I mention that only because his career record is three wins from 22 starts but we just have to wipe 10 starts off his tally; those slow and heavy tracks runs. Unless something changes, the track will be perfect for him. Baglioni was back in the winner’s stall there at Tuncurry last start in the Golden Mile beating a small but select field. Tony Ball has Xtra Approval flying. One must always respect and admire horses that have won seven races.

Bet: Monte Outlander to win

RACE 5

Pensativa has drawn barrier 15 here but will come in a fair few after the scratchings. That said, trainer Lou Mary has taken out some insurance by throwing in a nomination for Beaumont on Boxing Day. Whatever the case, all credit to Pensativa for that ‘over the top of them’ win at Gunnedah. Kris Lees’ filly So Newchee Thinks has a win and five placings from eight starts; most of those placings were at provincial level. Trialling up well enough to enthuse. Locally trained gelding ran third in a good maiden here then went to Tuncurry and won. Only one word for him and that’s ‘progressive.

Bet: Pensativa to win or if scratched So Newchee Things to win

RACE 6

Toomuchinformation has won five times and placed on 11 occasions (seven of them seconds) from a grand total of 22 starts. His Taree record is one win and four placings from five visits and he’s been placed at both Taree 1258m runs. Barrier 2 seals the deal. Edge Of Reward is one from one at Taree. The Kristen Buchanan-trained bay will find this easier than his first-up assignment in a pretty strong Benchmark 64 at Kensington. Critical Time has been in some very strong races in his time.

Bet: Toomuchinformation to win, exacta 2 to beat 1

RACE 7

Reateros is the market-watch horse of the day. The Wayne Wilkes-trained gelding is first-up here at home without a public trial to go on but the fact that he has two wins from three first-up appearances (those two wins were for Wilkes too), suggests that a third one is the plan. gets the 2kg off and the good draw is an early Christmas gift for connections. Former Godolphin-housed mare Lily Bobtail is ‘621’ in her three starts for Luke Thomas. One of those was at this track and distance where she stretched the neck of a handy horse (Archaic Force).

Bet: Reateros to win, exacta, quinella 3, 4
