The Form: Complete NSW Racing thoroughbred form, including video replays and all you need to know about every horse, jockey and trainer. Find a winner here!

RACE 1

Overview: Radiohead lines-up in his fifth Highway on the weekend, his last one if successful. The difference between this and the previous four is that he goes into the race as a last start winner and was a lot more impressive than the margin would suggest. Bad draw but will be going way back anyway. Can they make ground on the day and can Agirlsbestfriend run 1800m? Don’t know about either but the mare’s pattern would say yes she can. Same goes, vis-a-vie the 1800m for Burrandana and Competition who got way too far back here last time.

Bet: Radiohead each-way

RACE 2

Overview: Hard To Say hasn’t had much go right with barriers past and present. He drew 11 here in Sydney and will no doubt slide in a few but it is worth noting he drew 3 in the first race at Doomben. Wherever he goes, keep in mind that he is a talented horse who trialled like a bomb at Wyong on July 10. The Seven Seas could be in for a good preparation starting here and now. She has a good strike-rate of wins and placings to starts and I do remember her running a big race in the Inglis Millennium as a two-year-old. Big watch and respect to Undivided.

Bet: The Seven Seas each-way

RACE 3

Overview: United Nations was born on January 1 in 2019 which is the first day of the racing/breeding season in the Northern Hemisphere. The son of Galileo won two of his five starts in England before heading our way. The Maher/Eustace galloper was unmissable late at the local debut over 1800m and goes straight to 2400m for a reason. Kirkeby has improved at each of his three runs this preparation as he stepped up in distance and won over this track and distance last start. Aristonous and potential leader So United are obviously in the mix.

Bet: United Nations to win

RACE 4

Overview: Nana’s Wish’s ended her five starts in New Zealand by running in the Eight Carat. Okay, she ran ninth of 11 but she was $17 not $117 so she had some hope. The daughter of Belardo has had two runs over our side of the Tasman, both at Warwick Farm, with noticeable improvement in the 1400m one. Tashi is as honest and consistent as she is flashy. This is her first time at 1400m and the way he has been racing this preparation, you would bank it on it being the right trip at the right time.

Bet: Nana’s Wish each-way, quinella 4, 10

RACE 5

Overview: Lovero makes her Sydney Saturday debut on the weekend and does so, perhaps arguably, at the very peak of her powers and low down on the weight scale. Just for those who missed it, Lovero was super impressive winning at Gosford last start and while that was a Benchmark 64, keep in mind that she was third to I Am Me at Canberra at start number four. Waverider Buoy is ‘212’ this campaign, all of them at home but none of them with 60kg on board.

Bet: Lovero to win, quinella 2, 9

RACE 6

Overview: Wategos was outside the leader facing the breeze first-up but it certainly wasn’t a bad place to be in that race bearing in mind they ran 1.10.69s overall and 34.11s the last 600m. No wonder the first two out were the first two in. Barrier 4 again, Collett again, Rosehill again. The 1350m is better for him too IMHO. King Of Naples has strung together too narrow but still quite emphatic wins at his last starts. Just the perfect race for him really. Soami is on a hat-trick. Who would have thought?

Bet: Wategos to win, quinella 3, 6

RACE 7

Overview: Legio Ten is a pretty typical son of Exosphere who was himself ridden a fair bit by James McDonald. This will be J-Mac’s first race ride on Legio Ten who is a Listed placegetter this preparation over this distance. Just need some luck and skill from the draw. To be honest, I didn’t think Brudenell would run out a really strong 1200m with 60.5kg last start but he did. It comes down to pressure here, he didn’t have that much of it last start. Tristate is above average. Foujita San will be the Black Booker I reckon.

Bet: Legio Ten to win

RACE 8

Overview: Rocketing By has won $2.5 million; granted, he had a couple of massive pay days but you have still got to win. His M.O. is well established by now; basically he gets back and rattles late. When the 600m splits are just right, he can arrive late but in time. Trialled super here the other day. Speaking of super trials, you wouldn’t expect anything less than that from I Am Me who is not a million to one to be on the Everest radar I imagine. She is $51 to win it actually. Have a look at the time she runs. Huge respect for the James Cummings pair; Golden Mile and Ingratiating.

Bet: Rocketing By each-way

RACE 9

Overview: Raging Bull has run in some big races; here’s a few - Spring Champion, VRC Derby, Hobartville, Randwick Guineas, ATC Derby and lastly the Chairman’s at Randwick on Doncaster Day 2023. Here’s something to like about him on Saturday, he is one for one at the track and trip and did it first-up as well. Kalapour wintered in Brisbane and has a lot of residual fitness and class on his side. Bonny Ezra is getting close. Bold Mac loves it at home.

Bet: Raging Bull each-way

RACE 10

Overview: Just for some context, I made Tajneed my ‘best bet’ first-up and I know you don’t collect on a seventh placing but if you owned her and trained her, I say you walked away happy. She was off a pretty long break and went to the line like a horse that would bounce out of the run and improve again and again. Monfelicity is, in my opinion, the best longshot all day, both totes as Ian Craig would say. If she doesn’t medal, she will be the Black Booker no fear.

Bet: Tajneed to win, Monfelicity each-way, exacta 5 to beat 13
