Apprentice jockey Ivy Lam in with head injury after fall at Gawler
Apprentice jockey Ivy Lam has been airlifted to hospital after suffering a head injury in a fall at Gawler on Monday.

Apprentice jockey Ivy Lam is in a stable condition following a fall at Gawler on Monday.
Lam was airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with a head injury after her mount Jacobs Gate dropped back through the field and collapsed during a 0-56 Handicap (1516m). Lam was dislodged in the incident.
Racing SA released the following statement on Lam’s condition on Monday night.
“Apprentice jockey Ivy Lam is in a stable condition at the Royal Adelaide Hospital where she is being treated for injuries sustained in a fall during race 7 at Gawler today,” the statement said.
“Ivy was injured when her mount Jacobs Gate suffered a medical episode and collapsed at the 700 metre mark.
“Racing SA Stewards and First Care Medical staff were immediately on the scene and worked to stabilise her condition prior to the arrival of SA Ambulance paramedics.
“We are advised that Ivy regained consciousness prior to being airlifted to the RAH where she is currently undergoing scans.
“We are enormously grateful to all those involved in Ivy’s care.
“Racing SA is in close contact with Ivy’s family and we will provide further updates when possible.”
Lam was aboard gelding Jacobs Gate in a 0-56 Handicap (1516m) when the horse dropped back through the field sharply near the 800m. Lam was dislodged in the incident.
The remaining race on Monday’s eight-race card was postponed.
Lam, who is indentured to Gordon Richards and Damien Moyle, has ridden 16 winners from 139 rides since beginning her race riding career in January, her latest winner was aboard The Stalker at Balaklava on Wednesday.
