RUN OF THE DAY
Montaigne is a big, raw gangly three-year-old who landed massive bets across the board on Saturday. He was only having his third start in a race and is still learning what it’s all about. You had to be impressed the way he charged over them late looking a real stayer of the future.
FORGET THEY RAN
Wonderful Story had a good Wrap on him when making his debut in the Inglis Classic but didn’t finish off as well as expected. He was found by vets to have a cardiac irregularity after the race so maybe it would be wise to forgive his performance.
THE BLACK BOOK
There were more than a few to black book out of the meeting but the top two for me would be Shards who did a great job from the back charging into fourth looking like a real Guineas horse and the import Libran looking very good as far as his Sydney Cup preparation is concerned.
RIDE OF THE DAY
James McDonald showed all his class booting home the first three winners. You only have to watch him to see he puts plenty of thought and homework into his rides.
