Race 2 No. 1: DENMAN STAR
Very much his ‘father’s son’, Denman of course. Gelded, great alley, perfect trip, lovely trials.

Race 4 No. 3: TWO AYE
Went very close indeed when coming from a long way down the order in that 1300m maiden on Scone Cup Day.
VALUE BET
Race 8 No. 15: FLYING TYROL
John Thompson-trained mare whose only two wins came first-up. Could show up at each-way odds.

Race 6: 4, 6, 9, 10
Race 7: 3, 8, 12, 15
Race 8: 7, 15
JOCKEY TO FOLLOW
Jess Taylor could rack up enough points to get her home in the TAB Jockeys Challenge.
LISMORE
BEST BET
Race 2 No. 1: CENOTES
Has raced five times, runner-up in three of them and a rapidly closing third at the other. This might be his day.
NEXT BEST
Race 5 No. 3: TWO YA GOT
Has won six of his 12 starts and was second in two others. That’s obviously a fantastic record.
VALUE BET
Race 7 No. 14: GOBBLED
Looks to peak here third-up off. Blessed with a winning draw if he is good enough.
THE INSIDE MAIL FOR GOULBURN
RACE 5
Buff Mobile beat one home on debut in a Canberra maiden on April 21. This son of Sooboog was at home at Goulburn for his next start 20-days later and won. Talk about improvement. Not only did he win, but he drew 14 of 14 and pricked the ears going past the post. It’s never easy to go from a maiden to a class 1 and this is a strong enough race too. Take Temple Garden for instance. He’s very consistent, fit and experienced. Chaotic Beauty could be the value.
Bet: Buff Mobile to win, quinella 5, 6
RACE 6
Sumo Star has raced six times and has finished second at three of them while twice he has clocked in third. This is the easiest race he has contested so far and by a country mile. So much so, you have to ask yourself, how far would Californian or Step Aside win this by? Not a moral but he looks the one. Mr Extreme has drawn very wide and is nominated for two races at Newcastle on Tuesday. He’s ready to peak somewhere. Sweysive will eat up every inch of the 1300m. Jamaican is a huge improver.
Bet: Sumo Star to win
RACE 7
Prefer To Smile is so well-bred that we have to highlight it. She’s by Preferment who is no Danehill but he was a good horse. This filly’s real value lies in the fact that her third dam is Eustaci - a NZ broodmare gem. As for the punt, 1500m first-up on a big sweeping track gives her the chance to win. Heromania is in great shape. That much is clear given that he was runner-up first-up then won with a leg in the air at the Sapphire Coast 19-days ago. Ribeauville doesn’t win out of turn but this is a nice race for him.
Bet: Prefer To Smile each-way
RACE 8
Flying Tyrol’s sire Flying Artie and dam Burgeis both placed in a Blue Diamond so she’s worth a fair bit once she retires. At this point in time, her record id a mere two wins from 15 starts but what is important from Friday’s perspective is that both of her wins came first-up. Trainer John Thompson has given her every chance to make it ‘three’. Flying Shelly is lightly-raced and it’s taken good horses to beat here in the past. Backwater Trader is a player so too Impactfull Miss who is ‘unbeaten’.
Bet: Flying Tyrol to win
THE INSIDE MAIL FOR LISMORE
RACE 5
Two Ya Got has raced 12 times and won six of them. He was second in two others. Stating the obvious but that is a very good strike-rate. It’s so hard these days to win as often as that and all over the joint like he’s been doing. Barrier 2 and Braith Nock sealed the deal. Leave Me Some ran really well in the Jackal at Grafton two starts ago. Her ‘best’ would see her on the podium in this race. Be wary and respectful of Another Spirit who is first-up for John Shelton and Ben Looker.
Bet: Two Ya Got to win
RACE 6
Cassia Lane was very good last prep. She raced five times and won twice, both of them at Armidale as it happens. The John Shelton-trained four-year-old has raced four times first-up for a win and a second. Got to be happy with the draw - if she can use it. Her biggest danger could in fact come from within. Her stablemate Fire Up Bruce is, pardon the pun, on fire at the moment. He was building up to that last start win at Port Macquarie and he might not have fully peaked yet. Taikun Tommy will be strong at the end.
Bet: Cassia Lane to win, quinella 2, 4, Taikun Tommy to place
RACE 7
Gobbled is third-up in the Beef Week Cup which is invariably when a lot of horses are said to be at their most potent. Whether that be true or not, let’s just at least agree that barrier 5 is a gift for Gobbled who might end up getting a few favours now. Hope so. Dubai Tycoon should feel very much at home in this sort of race. Keep in mind that he has won eight times with eight placings in 33 starts and almost made it nine wins when nosed out there on the Sunshine Coast. If only Andy had a better draw. Can still win but makes it tougher.
Bet: Gobbled to win, Quinella 4, 14
RACE 8
Snazz ‘N’ Charm will earn every plaudit should he win the last on Beef Week Cup Day for the simple fact that he has 63kg on board. A couple of things to note, it is basically a 55kg limit for one, Snazz ‘N’ Charm is a 74 rater and winner of three races in a Class 3 and at the end of the day, you would take Brodie Loy at 63kg than anyone else at 60kg. Stoinka is a local from the Daniel Bowen stable. His best form, more or less, is here at home. Green Reign and Mychyna are in the mix.
Bet: Snazz ‘N’ Charm to win
