If Racing had it’s own Dally M’s - Aaron Bullock wins; what a season.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR TAMWORTH

RACE 1

Distant is run, spell, run, spell, run. Two of those runs were second placings here and very close ones at that. The downside perhaps is that she has drawn a little wide in a big field which could lead to high pressure up front. She does have Aaron Bullock on which is a big assist. Glorien is a first starter who was quite good in her trial here earlier this month despite being beaten six lengths. Super Story is a player (if he comes). Dubai Bound is third-up and going well with this prep.

Bet: Distant to win

RACE 2

French Comet had his first six starts for Tony and Calvin McEvoy; the best of which were seconds at Balaklava and Ballarat respectively. The son of Shalaa is with ‘local boy’ Zac Hatch now and sent out some very encouraging signs at his NSW debut at Armidale. Bullock on Friday from barrier one. Well-bred filly Lady Brulee will find this easier than her honourable fourth at Gosford. Penfold Park did some good things at his first preparation. Sunset Panorama has drawn well for Ben Looker and fitter for the first-up run here.

Bet: French Comet each-way

RACE 3

Tyson’s Dream’s two career wins came at the back end of his last preparation in the summer of 2022. For those who don’t remember them they were very comprehensive wins, both of them more or less from the front. The Cody Morgan trained son of Sebring hit the line better than anything first-up over 1400m which augurs well for Friday given it’s a mile at home this time. Mr Severino was severely interfered with at the worst possible time at Wyong last start - total forgive and forget. I’m On Break has won three times here at home.

Bet: Tyson’s Dream to win, Quinella 5, 10

RACE 4

Triple Money has some pretty respectable form over in New Zealand prior to arriving at Paul Shailer’s Port Macquarie digs. The son of Pins was fancied, big time, at his Australian debut but pulled-up lame. No such issues the next time when he came here and bolted in. May not be done with winning yet. Akauwheo has been highly consistent in her six starts. She is a Scone winner comes here off back to back placings, the last one was at this same track. Kayobi’s brother - Martedi - beat a moderate bunch of horses easily last start.

Bet: Triple Money to win

RACE 5

Eagledge turned in a highly commendable debut here on June 9. The son of Star Turn drew 10 of 12 in the 1200m maiden, raced handy, and fought hard when needed to cross the line almost in unison with the winner. Great ride by Ash Morgan on the day but we get Bullock now. Gardenzio is Kristen Buchanan-trained three-year-old having his first start on Friday saddled with a wide draw but if he runs up to his trials, there is no reason to think he won’t be on the podium somewhere. Rhiannon is a big watch first run for Luke Pepper.

Bet: Eagledge to win

RACE 6

Dolly Jayne could be saved for Royal Randwick on Saturday where she drew barrier 2 and has Andrew Gibbons booked. She has Gibbo and gate 3 if she heads to Tamworth instead. Long story short, the John Ramsey-owned/trained filly is building to something after a couple of eye-catchers at her last two. Adelsun came from 11th of 13 at the 400m here to win, going up, up and away on June 9. Oakfield Prince absolutely has the talent and the draw and the jockey. Assiduity once ran third at Warwick Farm to Democracy Manifest. A watch on his fluctuations is crucial.

Bet: Dolly Jayne to win or if scratched Adelsun to win

RACE 7

Holy Tycoon has won four races in 18 starts, placed four times as well. First and foremost one of her wins was here at Tamworth over this same distance. That was her only prior visit too. The Todd Howlett-trained mare has mixed and matched it with some pretty fair horses in her time. Case in point, she was seventh of nine to Passeggiata last start at Randwick but was only beaten three lengths and she was very good late too. Ostracised is a big chance if he comes of course. Ditto for Comonic who has accepted for Royal Randwick on Saturday. The ‘best’ Auntie Monnie is a serious medal hope.

Bet: Holy Tycoon to win

RACE 8

Perennial is probably, nay, certainly, the most interesting horse racing at Tamworth on Friday on the score of potential and for that matter - talent. The Paul Messara-trained two-year-old won the Red Crown at Muswellbrook with a real sense of quality. There was just something about the way he crossed the line that just made him standout from the average horse. This is no slam dunk but don’t want to back anything to beat him. Nosey, a cleverly-named son of Eavesdropper, has won seven races which is no small feat. He almost made it eight when ostensibly nosed out (pardon the pun) at Armidale. Small Town goes in if he runs.

Bet: Perennial to win, Nosey to place, quinella 3, 13, exacta 13 to beat 3
